I started smoking when I was 16 over the summer, nothing too serious, a pack every 2 weeks or so, if it was a party I'd probably smoke at least half a pack that night, but once school started I just stopped buying smokes and it never really bothered me again
same story recently, 1st yer of uni, stress was high so started smoking again, bought my last pack before the new year and never had a smoke since, it just doesn't really cross my mind
but then again almost none of my friends are smokers so I'm not constantly surrounded by temptation
One technique I saw an anon post here was to stop smoking in certain places, first stop smoking at your home, then stop smoking when you're outside alone, start only smoking when around other smokers, the slowly phase that out aswell

What worked for me was cold turkey and developing a seething hatred for smokers. Every time I see one, even a passing glance, I view them as this sub-human disgusting piece of filth, pacifying themselves with poison. Grotesque, pitiful failures. Just the lowest form of desperate disgusting degenerate imaginable. Don't turn into a smoking nazi though, keep your inexhaustible hatred for smokers to yourself.
