Gym bully masterrace reporting in. Run that bitch. I've been doing this social experiment to see who is alpha and who is beta in my gym. Turns out 99% of my gym is beta. What I'll do is I will purposely leave my weights on the bar and dumbbells on the floor after I'm done. I think I've had maybe only one or two wanna- be tough guys actually say something to me. Everyone else just deals with it. Some even rerack them for me. If this social experiment has taught me anything it's that most people are intimidated by authoritative figures and will do almost anything to avoid confrontation followed immediately by pain administrated by said authoritative figures.

I knew a female A-10 pilot who also competed in power lifting meets. She never walked around the gym acting like she was in "a man's world" because she knew what she was doing and why she was there.

I think most of this gym anxiety comes from noobs knowing that they don't really know what they're doing but they don't want to look like they need help. This is all that is happening to that girl, but she's attributing it to "male dominance". No. You just need to learn more and workout more.

Something somewhat similar happened to me at the gym.
I get to the leg press and there's an older woman lifting around 50kgs or so there. I'm new to the gym, second week in, third lower body workout in total, and I leg press around 20kgs (femanon here), the PT told me to increase progressively the weights.
The lady is done and gets up and proceeds to walk away. I stop her and tell her to help me unload the weights (some big 20 kgs and 5kgs on each side). She takes one look at me and tells me "try it". I chuckle awkwardly but compose myself and sit in the leg press, and I start lifting. It's heavy and hurts but I do it for three reps, as she watches, then I get up and look at her. she tells me "see, it wasn't that hard". I smile and go to my next exercise. Thanks old lady, you pushed me to the limits when I first started, and gave me faith in my abilities to lift.

my max squat is 395, and I've torn my meniscus and MCL playing college football, and had to get surgery on both, so my legs are lacking.
