Can just brisk walking everywhere you go (eg to the mall, to the tube station) and doings things like always running up stairs rather than using elevators be considered light cardio?

It's certainly better than nothing. Anything which gets your heart pumping fast is good. It probably won't help you lose weight unless you're doing a lot (hours). Walking is also good for your posture which can make you look a lot better.

Know that cardio is never required for aesthetics you can rely entirely on diet for staying lean if you're diligent. Also know that not doing cardio is terrible for you and honestly engaging in heavy lifting and never doing cardio is probably worse for you heart than sitting around doing nothing.

I'd disagree there, friendo. A lot of physique athletes do an hour of fasted cardio in the morning as their primary form of cardio, and burning ~250cals 7 times a week might just be the push you need to lean out.

250 cals is about 5k which is roughly an hour walking. So like I said, in the region of hours of walking for tangible benefits. It certainly burns less than most people would think. Eating less is easier.
