They have done it. My gym posted it on facebook and marketed it as it would lead to a more efficient use of the treadmills and other cardio machines.
The training has always been "soft limited" to 60 minutes (signs in the cardio area/general rules). Now they introduced a token system where you can get one "cardio token" per 8 hours with your member card on a terminal and you have to throw it into the treadmill to walk 1 hour. Like fucking washing machines pic related.
I am literally working out on washing machines with a motorized belt now.

I live in germany and it is already a high priced gym, I enjoy because of the clientele, so there is no option.

So you get free tokens every 8 hours to use the cardio machine for an hour? I don't see the problem. What are you a girl? You want to walk on the treadmill for more than an hour? Lift your damn weights and go for a run outside.
