Bicep/tricep DOMS is the worst shit ever.
It's like your arm is locked in one position and if you try to straighten/bend it your muscle tries to tear itself off the bone. I can massage it away temporarily by digging a finger into the muscle and forcing myself to flex and extend over and over again but then if I leave my arms in the same position for too long it just comes back.
I get flashbacks whenever I increase the weight on my curls or OHP, worrying it's gonna happen again.

DOMS is pretty much entirely unconnected to recovery.
If you're throwing in an extra session specifically to help alleviate the soreness, then yeah you should go light so it doesn't impact on your actual training but if your next real session rolls around and you're still sore just fucking go at it. Unless you're so sore that you can't actually do the movement. Then you've got to find a workaround.
