Can exercise raise LDL? Google is giving me 10 hundred answers so I don't even know.
Also, can it lower HDL? My sodium and liver/kidney levels were all jacked up so maybe they relate?
stop eating fat fatty

Why would you want to raise your LDL levels lol, exercise does the opposite

I took a blood test and it was kind of high. Right after i biked at the gym

>1 day of exercise is worse than years of inactivity and eating like shit
Your body would not have reacted that quick, pretty sure ldl and hdl levels dont drastically change overnight

ive been going to the gym since i was 18, so i dunno.
also drink a ton of water and eat a ton of nuts. ive had a lot of cookies in the past two weeks though so maybe that. idk.

I really wanted to give you advice, but you posted a shit bike. Sorry, I cannot talk to you anymore.
Yes, it can.
HDL is a scavenger. It has a high amount of protein (apolipoprotein) when compared to its lipid contents (cholesterol, phospholipids, and triglycerides). The high amount of protein and relatively low amount of lipid means that Hdl is not yet "saturated" with lipids and can remove lipids from the arterial macrophages before returning to the liver for processing. In this way, HDL is a scavenger for removing lipids.
LDL does the opposite. The high amount of lipids when compared to protein means LDL is already saturated with lipids and can't act to remove lipids from the arteries. LDL can deposit lipids in the arteries and in macrophages causing arteriosclerosis which is a bad thing. However, LDL is crucial in delivering lipids to tissues and peripheral sites where it is used in the cell membranes and biosynthesis.
So why could your LDL be high after exercise? Because tissue stress likely leads to cells expressing receptors for LDL in order to repair membranes and use lipids for biosynthesis.
Also, I hope you didn't eat or drink anything before the test because that fucks it up.

this guy is sort of right
exercise and HDL/LDL levels are not fully understood. there is some evidence that exercise can falsely elevate HDL and some studies saying it falsely elevates LDL. in fact, i've heard some theories saying that exercise before a cholesterol test may falsely lower LDL since lipids would be rapidly transported into the tissues for energy and LDL would be consumed temporarily before the liver could process more.
personally, I've never heard of a doctor telling patients to avoid exercise before a cholesterol test unless they're also testing creatinine, hormones, etc.
but the real problem is this >>40147806
you're supposed to maintain your normal diet for about 2 weeks before a cholesterol test so your binge eating of cookies is probably what did it for you.
I wouldn't be too concerned. as long as your LDL wasn't within a high risk range and your HDL very low, you're likely to be okay. just eat healthier and exercise.

Exercise is proven to increase HDL. It's the recommended way to improve your HDL.
