I think it's a lot like girls with red hair.

If you're already attractive they'll make you more attractive. If you're ugly they'll make you uglier.

As long as they fit you face, you're good. The people in the store will usually know what to pick for you. If not, google/youtube something about glasses and face shapes - you'll get a good look at what you need.

It can make your face better by highlighting your good features and minimizing the rest. For example I have a round and long face. My glasses are more rectangular as a result and it helps divide and straighten out the look of my face.

Posture and attitude is key. Glasses can make you look like a dork, if you are a dork. I rarely do my hair and I remember this one time I went out. Plain, straight hair and a terrible shirt/sweater combo made sure I looked completely awful. If I had done my hair and worn something better, I honestly would look ten times better WITH the glasses then without.
