Anyone here work a job that involves being active and not on a computer all day?

Graduating with a meme degree in criminology.I am thinking about applying to a police force or to the army as a grunt or a medic. Really not too sure
>>
>>40106208
I'm EE so I'm hoping I don't get completely fucked by exhaustion and give up on lifting altogether.

I've had a few friends go into the marines right after high school though, and most of them have turned into MONSTERS. They were always adamant about being physically active before the marines, however; so I doubt it'll pull miracles.
>>
Criminology here as well.

You didn't need the degree if you were just going to join the police as an actual COP.

You might as well use the degree and apply for comfy office positions at your local police departments, it's better pay, no risk, and you basically cant get fired.
>>
>becoming a grunt during what is essentially peace time
Just don't, you'd be a very underpaid janitor that pulls stupid long duty shifts and sometimes goes on terrible camping trips.

It took heaven and earth to get a decent chunk of one brigade of the "premier" regular army unit to go and not do anything kinetic. Unless you go jsoc.

I work a shitty desk job now, but for a couple of years I was a Lands Management Officer.
It was mid level management of the Crown Lands system in my province. Basically I evaluated applications for Crown Land for suitability, availability, clarity of title, that sort of thing. The area which I administered was very remote, so it meant a lot of hiking and ATV work for examining sites. I'd spend about 2-3 days a week on the office and the rest on the road or on site.
I have a master's in Land Use Planning.
I made 66k after tax income in that job (making a little more now that I've graduated to a full desk job).
No injuries, though I did fall through ice that was covered in forest detritus once on a site, and had to walk back to the truck about 3 kilometres in subzero temperatures with a wet foot and calf.
I'm 5'10", about 200 pounds, bench 305, squat 395, DL 455.
My diet is straight up bodybuilding meal prep, I eat 5 times a day on a set schedule.
My job used to force me to adjust my meals on occasion, but nothing serious.
I have a gf, we're talking about moving in together and deciding whether to do it now or when I buy a house in July.

I used to work in the staffing field for locums. I truly wish you the best of luck, but you will not make 160k. You might as well become a doctor if you want that kind of pay and someone to actually hire you. Maybe when you are in your late 30's early 40's will anyone consider to pay you that much and that's if you spent the last 20 + years completely devoting your life to the profession.
>>
>>40106208
EMT, worked the road and now work in an ER, going to go back for nursing in the next year or so. Hoping to do flight nursing (medivac). There's countless applicants for it but most of them are fat slobs and there's a weight limit to the profession since copters can't handle 3-4 350lb people.

>>40107479
Sorry to burst your bubble anon but you better have at least a 3.5GPA and 6+ years of ICU experience to get into CRNA school. A lot of students think they're gonna waltz right in before they even graduate without realizing they're competing with 40 year old men and women who have been nurses for 20 years. GL though

After going back from school at 3pm I had to work there for free with workers who never finished highschool and were paid below minimum wage.

I run a business with my friend. Usually we lift in the office while casually discussing how to proceed or come up with new shit. We find this is the best way to stay productive. The rest of the time is spent on the phone or in meetings.

LLB from a Russell Group means you can get a job on pretty much any corporate field and still have a high income.

Not atm, had before but hospitality is fucked up, your hours that you're supposed to work is just a guideline, if there is a lot of work to do you stay until guests leave. Planning is impossible. Did a 22h shift once, slept 5 hours and then another 10h. This is with maybe 1-2 5 minute breaks, standing up trying to eat some french fries. It's terrible, so I'm gonna study in the beginning of next year.

Man I always feel bad for not tipping bartenders, but the prices most places charge here for drinks are absurd.
>>
>>40115465
For me it's actually not about the amount of the tip, it's more the action of actually tipping that matters. If a beer is 4.75$ and everyone left that 0.25$, I would walk home with like atleast 50$ every night. But then again I see tip's more of like a proof that I've done a good job and provided a great service.

Then again, the business is fucking shit and we have no one else to blame but ourselves for being in it.

Midwest, but it's not all that uncommon in most places to make $35k-$40k as an EMT

Apprentice Plumber. I work in construction. I just started a few months ago, make 12/hr. The actual plumbers make 35/hr plus OT and get company trucks to take home with paid gas. 7-330pm monday-friday.
No schooling (some states require schooling to be a plumber, mine doesnt). It can be hard on your body, but its up to the individual to take care of it/eat right. I bring my lunch and a snack everyday. Routine is easy to maintain. No gf right now, focusing on learning as much as I can and saving money. I really love my job.

As someone who recently got my undergraduates in computer science, I'd really like to get your perspective on masters. Did you start towards it right after your undergraduate? What made you want to get it? Are you planning on becoming a compsci professor? From what I understood, I thought if you got your CS masters employers kind of look at that like someone who's been out of the workforce for longer, but they have to pay you more because you have your masters.
