It's more important than lifting health wise, it increases your testosterone production slightly, it doesn't kill gains if you compensate for the lost calories

I've read a couple articles who've proven anaerobic exercise to be superior in terms of central fat reduction (lose your belly quicker) compared to aerobic and aerobic/anaerobic combination workouts. They fall behind in terms of reducing LDL and VLDL though. Triglycerides diminish as soon as you start moving your ass, so it's irrelevant which type of exercise you use if your goal is to reduce it.
