Sure but there's no reason to do that now that there are alternatives. Invisalign works and you don't look like a teenager with it.

I used both. When I was a teenager I had metal braces. After, I never used my retainer because that shit was annoying. Anyway years later my teeth were crooked again so I fixed that shit with Invisalign.

Honestly I don't know why anyone would get metal braces these days. Shit's awful. You get all sorts of cuts in your mouth and it's generally an awful experience.

I'm in a pretty similar situation and thinking about getting braces in a year or two when I'm done with my degree.

I never had jaw surgery, but I'm also no expert on orthodontics beyond what I've personally experienced.

I think there are particular things that require corrective jaw surgery?

Growing up in America basically everyone I knew had metal braces at some point during middle/high school, but I never heard of anyone needing surgery.

I got metal braces at 29. You will look like a teenager and people will judge but it is worth it for straight teeth. Crooked teeth make you look poor and unattractive.
