Hi /FIT/
I started properly lifting about 2 months ago and since the first few workouts I'm no longer getting DOMS the day after. Sometimes I might be a bit sore but I never find it difficult to walk or anything. Is this normal? I'm applying a progressive overload every time I go, am I just not trying hard enough or something?
Increase wheight no pain no gains brother
Doms have lower intensity the more often you experience them.
However, it is a common rookie mistake not to push himself enough aka. Not increasing volume enough
you shouldn't be basing your workout on how sore or not sore you are the next day. Just keep doing what you're doing and concentrate more on what you do in the gym rather than how you feel after.

there's a difference between burn and DOMS, it's not a good idea to equate DOMS with progress

initial doms are severe because of all the lactic acid your muscles release from never being used. once you start using them, you never have doms again after that. it takes about two weeks of rest for them to build up to the level where you feel sore after a workout, at least for me anyway.

to expand on this, doms are always the worst 2 to 3 days after your first workout, especially if you go hard. even if you plan on taking it easy for a month its best to do one full body day a week that way you don't end up trapped on the toilet seat (happened to me a few times after doing legs heavy after a long break)
