I hardly post here but swimming is how I got /fit/ so I'll help you out.

I started last year @ 230 6' 2'', down to 170 and sitting in gains purgatory with this routine.

traveling from one end to another of down a standard sized (not Olympic) swimming pool is 25m, the full lap is 50m.

You should do:
500M of "pull" (put that thing between your legs to prevent you from kicking and only use hands)
500M of kickboard (kicking)
500M of backstroke
500M of free

I'd add to this routine but over a mile of swimming is a good hour for most people of swimming. You'll need to work up to that amount of distance over the course of a few months but you should aim to swim for 1 hour every other day at least. You can most likely do 250 of each to start.

Also chill in the hot tub or sauna if you have one after that shit is god tier.

How good exactly is swimming for getting fit?

Worse then deadlift.

I swim a km every morning. Training fins build more muscle.

At which point will I get webbing on my extremities and develop a swole pectoral fin?

Focus on form, not speed.
Take a shower before you enter the pool.
Swim circle laps and leave the starting area if you take a break between laps.
Ask more experienced swimmers to check your form from time to time.

Can you escape skinny fat mode just by swimming and not lifting? I mean just get a firm flat body, by no means ripped but visible abs etc

Bumping for interest

Yes, you'll get a nice defined upper body, but you'll get laughably small legs, rowing is better for losing weight, and getting a nice ottermode as rowing is full body while swimming is primarily upper body

This is wrong the middle lane should be going the other direction otherwise people would be hitting eachother when doing butterfly

Look up Ruth Kazez 0 to 1650 worked incredibly well for me
