Do you take your shoes off to squat/deadlift? If not, what do

i just wear my flat bottom shoes to the gym. fine with me for diddly and squat. people think it's weird but i don't come to the gym to do cardio

I've gone sock only because don't want them gym floor aids. Feels good but my gym is too casual for that. I think going straight barefoot is kinda odd, if it's not serious weight. but i would probably only shoot you like 3-5 weird glances.

I only squat/deadlift with shoes off. I feel like I'm gonna roll my ankles if i wear shoes.

if I'm wearing weightlifting shoes i'll take them off to low bar squat or deadlift big numbers. but that's only because I don't train flat-footed lifts often enough to justify hauling around a pair of chucks or w.e...

if you wear ridiculous athletic shoes with squishy and oddly shaped soles then you ought to take them off to squat and deadlift. Not only is the instability dangerous to your joints, but you're gimping the learning process for your tech

I would prefer too but my university gym does not allow it. I just wear converse, which is a good alternative, but something about squaring in socks makes me feel more in control of my squat.
