we know that consciousness comes from your brain because of coma and dreamless sleep or is at least perceived by it.

if we had means to clone you and put your clone in front of you, you would see yourself but you wouldn't believe he has your consciousness, while he probably would be thinking the same thing. both of you would have the same consciousness since it resides or is perceived by your brain, but you wouldn't be able to prove it because you would be separate entities. would that make your clones consciousness any less real?

what happened if you died right there and then? technically your consciousness would still be alive. can you perceive it then? in the end we will never know because it's impossible to know. it's a pointless subject that can't really be grasped just as we can't comprehend infinity.

that is if consciousness is not something entirely different than we think it is and is not linked to your body at all.

My consciousness wouldn't be alive. My clone wouldn't posses my consciousness, because if we exist at the same time that means we percive reality different (simply because we are occupying different places in space).

Again, we're not talking about afterlife or such. Only about consciousness linked to physical body, because so far science hasn't provide any proof for anything beyond.
