with stronglifts, should you add 5 lb on both sides or 5 lb.total?

You add 5lbs a time, so add a 5lbs plate to only one side this time then both sides next time

For Stronglifts it's 2.5 lbs to each side, EXCEPT for the deadlifts. For the deadlifts you add 5 lbs to each side until the first time you have to deload your deadlift weight due to failure, then it also becomes 2.5 lbs to each side.
