Hey fit, never posted here so don't murder me.
Can do push ups, sit ups and crunches like a champ, but cannot for the life of me run long distance well enough to get the job I'm looking at getting.
I trust you guys more than any articles these days, any advice?

Run more.

Cardio is like 90% persistence. Joint pain, and shit like that is tough to overcome, but otherwise the only way to get better is to run more.
Slow down your speed at first. Don't run; jog. Once you reach a decent distance, try to hit a faster time. Control your breathing as well. When I was doing 10k's, I'd inhale 3 steps, exhale 3 steps. Constantly. If your breathing is erratic, you don't stand a chance.
Cardio isn't any different from anything else. Small goals lead to greater achievements.

OP here, been running for months, had to take a week long break to take care of family with broken limbs and winter hit, can I supplement somehow? It really is just persistence, time and consistency?

I mean, this is why I'm asking, I've been running for 6 months and I haven't improved that much.
I've never been capable of a ten minute mile.

you just need more will power buddy. get out there and pound the pavement. when youre tired, you walk a bit and then keep running. Aim to go longer than last time
