It will make your muscles appear more defined as it dehydrates you causing fat to lose visible mass, it will not however help you to lose the fat and can cause serious health problems if overused. It will not increase your lifts.
You do need sodium for a balanced diet, you shouldn't need to supplement it.

Sodium is a red herring. It's correlated with people eating absolute garbage so people think it's correlated with causing disease. There is literally nothing wrong with eating lots of salt for a healthy person. If your kidneys are fucked or you have uncontrolled high blood pressure that's a different story.
