first off they're not colonges, they're EDT sprays for men.

get it from a respectable brand. they all cater to men, but at different price ranges.

the cheap but well established brands i know of are CK, which caters towards a younger audience and has a wide range, and davidoff, which has a very, very small range, but have withstood the test of time.


the usual goto cheap tier is davidoff cool water, and the more recent hot water, each costing less than 30 bucks.

as a general rule of thumb, look up the name of the colonge on google, find the date it was first introduced in any version, and you'll know if its decent or not. and avoid all sports/celebrity/car branded scents.

You can't really go wrong with acqua di gio. i've received a few compliments from my friends for it and a recent FWB used to always just comment on how nice I smell whenever she was near me. It's probably one of the more basic colognes and so many other men wear it, but it's definitely a good start. Highly recommend/10.

I tend to wear cologne any time I go out, except for obvious situations like going to the gym, but generally even to a normie you can tell what scents are right for what occasion, such as not wanting to wear a rich, dark, sexy smelling cologne in the morning when you head off to school, etc

Also, despite what people tell you in this thread, good smelling cologne can also be cheap cologne, but that being said, an expensive cologne is expensive because with fragrances you tend to get what you pay for, as well as longevity and silage. Curve, Burberry, Nautica, Chrome, Lagerfield, Dana, Polo, and even some of the Georgio Armani colognes are all cheap and good smelling, and you can even spring for your grandfathers cologne such as old spice, brute, english leather, british sterling, that sort of thing.

Don't let that one girl get to you. Try other colognes, I think the best one on guys are those that have a clean smell with a hint of tobacco or musky smell.

I like sauvage a lot by Dior, but a lot of people really well versed in colognes find it boring. I think it smells nice and a lot of girls complement me on it.

I also like Ombre Leather 16 by Tom Ford, very masculine scent.

You apply the scent to your body's heat spots.
Neck, close to your ears, chest or the veins near your wrists or elbows.
1 or 2 sprays in total, depending on how strong the scent is.
If you overdo it you end up smelling worse than without any cologne.

Just go to a store with a bunch of colognes and pick one that you like smelling on yourself.
Going by what females like is shitty, because what one woman likes the next one won't.

To anyone wanting to try out colognes I recommend getting a sample pack - I got one of like 10 or 15 on amazon and it's great. They'e sample bottles but it'll last a long time.

Generally, your nose can deal with up to 3-4 scents at a time.
If you're a beginner, search online for colognes that get good reviews and go to a store with a list of a few colognes you'd like to try.
Try them on your skin, because they smell differently on paper and it won't be an accurate smell.

Nah, I just mentioned it for A*Men Pure Malt because woody and oriental scents work great if you're a smoker or go to places where people smoke.

Citrusy, fresh or floral scents don't combine well with tobacco and you end up smelling really weird if you're a smoker.

Why does how cologne smells on you change sometimes? I tried this stuff that was fucking fantastic but when I tried the same sample vial again a week later it was terrible and didn't smell anything like before. Now it always smells bad like that, only the first wearing was great.

cologne reacts to your body chemistry and that can change from day to day. it's one of the interesting things about it. sometimes scents can smell amazing on you and sometimes not. but i spray it on my clothes because i don't want all those fucking chemicals absorbing into my body daily
