Proper bumper plates are so fucking expensive, would it be ok for me to drop ones like these from above my head?

I wouldn't. They're a lot more breakable than proper bumpers and they'll inflict damage on the floor if you aren't careful.
Also they will fuck your bar up

that's why "bumpers" are called bumpers
you can't drop cast iron ones

goodbye floor
goodbye plates
goodbye bar

try here for bumper pl8s m8

I got me about 500lbs of bumper plates (excluding cast iron 5lb and 2.5lbs one) from them a couple years ago, I forget how much they were (I got them on sale) but right now you can get 2x45lb bumpers for $115 which ain't bad.
If you do it on a mat you'll be fine, hard to fuck up the bigger plates (10s and below chip). Bar might get damaged though, might want a shitty Craigslist bar considering you probably won't be doing huge weights overhead

If your gym doesn't have bumper plates then just do controlled drops
just get 2-4 20 kg bumpers and the rest iron
