Someone said earlier that he is worse than many drug addicts and, truthfully they are not that far off.

I used to drink way too much so I started going to 12-step meetings, went back to school, started working out, cut out all the shit people who I didn't need in my life, etc. I haven't used in over three years and am in the best shape of my life.

BOOGIE has a very, very hard (if not impossible) journey. While there is a 12-step group for the morbidly obese called Over-eaters Anonymous; food addiction is an eating disorder that is nearly impossible to treat for several reasons.

1. People have to eat food. People do not need heroin, alcohol, gambling, excessive sex, etc. to live but they have to eat some form of food. There is no true abstinence from food and it is incredibly hard to change a diet of 10,000 calories of junk and shit food a day.

2. The body copes with addiction in various ways and for binge eaters like Boogie, it is constantly trying to make sense of what is going on and doesn't understand that the drivers of the dopamine and serotonin rush, his food, is also what is killing him. This happens to drug addicts too, but the complete removal of drugs forces the body to "rewire" the brain to get pleasure from other things. The brain is constantly seeing food as a pleasure source and when it tastes something healthy that did not bring it pleasure, it makes the person not want to eat that anymore.

3. The fat acceptance movement is a terrible enabler for people who are obese/morbidly obese. It just gives people with eating disorders more reason to not quit.

Boogie can't just get surgery to fix this problem. The only proven method to fixing his issue is for him to lose 50 to 100 pounds on his own, get gastric bypass so he can't eat huge meals in one sitting, and lose the other 200 - 250 pounds with diet and exercise. Less than 5% of people like Boogie can do this.

Meh. We are all addicted to food to some extent. At least I can say that I am. It is not as difficult as you make it sound.

A. Change junk for filling food. In particular things like chicken, nuts, quark, etc. If you ate quark every time you got hungry you'd probably still end up at a deficit, because it is just that filling relative to calories.
B. Find some hobbies that you enjoy so you don't feel the need to always eat food for pleasure, and only eat when you are actually hungry.

I called him out on his weight on Twitch when he was bragging about having earned a cool Million from Youtube now. I asked why he can't transform the spare room into a personal gym and hire a PT twice a week.
He said that he can't get fit because he is so big he can't get fit. He made a really pitiful excuse, he then IMEDIATELY took a huge gulp from his gallon soda cup. I GUARANTEE it was a full sugar drink.

I just had a scroll through his wife's Twitter and every single picture that has boogie sitting at a table, he is surrounded by enpty Sprite and Coke bottles. Not low sugar lemonade, or Diet Coke. Fucking hell, he literally isn't even trying.

(1) Ought to be minimized if he starts to eat in such a way that all his nutrient needs are satisfied, both micro and macro. Fat rich diet + some supplementation should do well for him.

(2) All healthy food should taste good. Rice noodle with tomato paste and meat balls with a side of broccoli and garlic butter is pretty god damn good. Add some cream and coconut oil coffee to your day and you can restrict your eating to an 8 hour window fairly comfortably. Yesterday for breakfast I had two eggs, 150 g of steak, a side of vegetables (which I could have dipped in olive oil + balsamic vinegar), blueberries and 1.5 potatoes sliced and cooked in butter.

(3) The fat acceptance movement is indeed terrible.

You add fermented vegetable to the mix in order to progressively improve gut flora while reducing omega-6 consumption and wheat, which seem to disrupt nutrient absorption, and you're on track to eliminate food addiction from you life or at least you've taken a significant step in that direction, not only because you now eat better but because you're eating in such a way that it doesn't make you suffer. You're not hungry all the time and you don't feel like you're eating stuff that isn't as good in virtue of the fact that it's healthy. Fat rich diet will do that, but you have to chose your fats. They also make fasting more effective as they train your body to consume fat. (There's also the whole insulin issue.)

Presumably his taste buds are now completely habituated to shitty sugar intake, which is what he would have the most trouble with. Furthermore, I have no doubt that his portions would be larger than mine, as this is what he's used to and his stomach is probably just larger.

However, while he may very well be addicted to sugar, there's no reason for him not to like healthy food when rich in fat and properly mixed (meaning macro nutrient balanced) and, while he would still eat too much, he would do so in such a way that he would bring his blood sugar into balance, actually satisfy his nutrient needs, and train his body to metabolize fat instead of sugar, which is actually good no matter what.

By fixing macro and micro nutrient deficiencies, he would minimizes the chances of having craving and feelings of irresistible hunger, as his body would have less tendency to send him signal that he still needs to find something in his food.

Right now, I'm not even looking at this from a weight loss perspective but from a nutrient + blood sugar one. He needs to optimize his nutrient intake, both micro and macro, cut out toxin in his food -- meaning wheat and legumes -- eliminate omega-6 fatty acid, and start to absorb glucose in a safe way instead of constantly ingesting fructose. It doesn't matter whether or not he loses weight on such a program at first, or if he eats too much on it. It would still be immensely superior to what he's doing now. I mean, sodas? Jesus fucking christ.

No doubt you agree but you're just skeptical about the chances of success, especially from a weight loss point of view. That's perfectly understandable.
