So I've been lifting for about a year and a half and I'm considering joining a jujitsu gym.
So my question for /fit/izens that also do sports (especially martial arts) is how do you go about balancing lifting and your sport?

just don't gain enough to get out of your weight class, thats pretty much it. martial arts are fuckin great cardio
t. muay thai fag

I kickbox/muay thai twice a week and lift 3 or 4 times a week. Not that hard to balance. The only difficult part is eating enough to offset the cardio.

Not too worried about gaining weight, since starting lifting I don't gain weight unless I stuff my face. looking forward to the god tier cardio.

I lift 4 times a week now, thinking of cutting back a little. I relies I wont be able to progress my lifts as quickly as i could if i only lifted. Do you feel rested enough when you lift to increment the weight regulatory?
My issues were mostly that I'd go too hard on lifts that required the same muscle groups as my sports. Just do lower intensity stuff that's easier on the joints during the season and wait for off-season to do the heavy shit and you should be good.

That makes sense i can take a break from getting stronger while i focus on jujitsu and lift for maintaining strength and muscle endurance. then go ham later.
