I'm reading all over the place conflicted findings about protein intake. A lot of people say 1g per pound of should be enough, but they also say that is for if you wanna lose fat. Losing fat is fine, but will that also be enough to allow muscle growth?

YES

1g/kg of bw is much more than enough to build muscle.
0.7g per pound is what's needed for a relatively lean natty (AKA not fat) to achieve the maximum rate of protein synthesis
anything more than that won't make any difference
everybody who has tried decreasing their protein intake will agree
