Can we get a list of best to worst gyms going?

And why is Planet Fitness the worst?

>No sweating allowed
>Free Pizza

Th...they give out pizza?
>>
>>39920581
I go to PF and mine has the lunk alarm turned off because everyone who works there thinks its fucking stupid. And yet they give away free candy every day and pizza on the first tuesday of every month.

Oh the hypocrisy
>>
>>39920566

If you want a serious environment without NYRs, and good equipment, powerlifting gyms are the best gyms, even if you're not a powerlifter.
>>
>>39920566
my gym is the best. i'm pretty sure it's a front for laundering money or something. the owner is never there, barely see any other patrons. it's open 24/7 so i can go in literally any time and throw weights around like an autist. there's a gigantic p.a. that i can plug my phone into and blast tunes. squat rack, bench and a huge area for deadlifts all to myself all the time. shower, sauna. and it's like 30 bucks a month.
>>
>>39920590
>>
>>39920624
also it's the basement level of a building downtown, so not many people even know it exists. and there's a bar at street level across the street where i can get a cheap pint in after a good sesh.

LA Fitness is great, I pay $30/month and can access all of the locations nationwide.

>Sauna
>Hot tub
>Plenty of racks
>Yoga classes

The one by me was recently remodeled so I enjoy working out, hitting the sauna after and then showering.
>>

To be honest if you say no to all the pizza and bullshit that they give out to keep fatties coming back, its not that bad of a gym for DYELs to do SS

Anyone know how well World Gym stands up?

It's cheap but the closest one is jam packed with machines and the weights are kinda shitty.

The newer one that's farther away has nice well spaced equipment.

People are gonna call me a shill but whatever

Puregym (UK) is very decent

I just rang them to ask if a day pass was 24 hours or until the end of that day and the man gave me a 3 day free pass

so they're my favourite gym
>>
>>39920959
1 free pass and sounds like they've got you for life.

In my experience they ain't very good. Rows and rows and rows of bikes, cross trainers, and treadmills. Hardly any space for free weights. The one I went to didn't have a single power cage. Cancellation sounded easy though IIRC
>>
>>39921021
well, I've used them before (just moved/restarted membership)

I'd agree that the focus is way too much on bikes rather than lifting but the one I'm going to has at least one squat rack and one power cage

still I haven't seen this building yet so I'll let you know in a few hours when im back
>>
>>39920581

I googled "Lunk Alarm" but I believe everyone is memeing me. What is it exactly?

>>

There's a video of it on youtube, I'll see if I can find it. I thought it was just a meme too until I saw the video

What does this thread think of 24 Hour fitness? Honestly, besides all the peopld coming after new years, its great and had a tight hardcore community, at least at mine.
>>
Best
>anything local and oriented towards actual lifting not just cardio and machines
Mid
>lifetime, LA fitness, snap fitness, etc.
Worst
>planet fitness and any local crossfit gym just because of the insane cost to use their facility
If there's a cheap crossfire place near you, then bump it up to best unless they force you to do their programs.

I will second this! I go to a powerlifting gym and I'm not a powerlifter. Some of the people who lift there are powerlifters, some are training Oly, some have fuckarounditis, and some people do a bro-split.

No locker rooms, pools, hundreds of cardio equipment or any of that superfluous shit and it's a whopping $40/month.
>>
>>39920581
>no sweating

I'm guessing this is true. Is it enforced? How can you do cardio and not sweat?
>>
>>39920624

Fuck that sounds nice.

My current gym is in an old people neighborhood so most patrons are exercising with kegs, TRXs, cable machines and stationary bikes. But for some reason it has a full set of barbells and weights, a power rack and a bench that nobody ever uses but me and a buff as fuck 60yo granpa.

I love that place, grannies are very nice too and never bother you.
>>
Local YMCA, free weights and machines, "cross fit room" which only gets used by the aerobics crowd, basketball gym, indoor track, swimming pool, sauna, hot tubs, and Milf Stacey's that use the free child care. $38/month
>>
>i thought planet fitness was a joke
>it's a real fucking thing and people actually go there
lmao. It's a gym so people can say they go to the gym and it's dirt cheap and they give out free pizza and whatnot. The owners are smart af

My gym is specialised in oly and powerlifitng (and other strength training). It is pretty expensive 60euros/month but you also pay for the coaches, a shit ton of weights and barbells and squat racks, showers, etc. The coaches are always giving you tips and correcting your form and also they give a free program with progession aimed at meets. Everyone here is pretty cool and the owner is also one of the oly coaches. He's a great guy. He really does have a passion. I wouldn't change it for the world.

pic related is great. it's a mildly sized space separated from the outside by nearly all glass, like a giant window into the place. visually, you see the cardio stuff first but there are relevant machines and then a couple power racks, smith machines, squat racks with all the weights and benches you need except during the busiest times. two showers, two more bathrooms, and a big room with a sandbag and separate radio you can connect to for a more personal environment.

$30 a month, access to anything with your keycard at any time, as the name suggests. it is affordable and exactly what you need.

Agreed, although mine is 35 a month. Barely anyone there in the day and completely empty in the morning.

Obese guy here. Pretty much the same size as Pepe in the pic lel.
When I first tried working out I went to planet fitness. I didn't take it seriously and went basically because it made me feel better. The average guy in my planet fitness must have been 200lbs, and not muscle weight

The staff were very encouraging and let us get away with things. There was a group of about 10 very fat people of which I was a member and we basically ran the gym. Some of the things we used to be allowed to do

>Bring a pizza oven to the gym and plug it in in place of a cardio machine (usually a treadmill). a powerlifting guy got kicked out once for trying to smash the oven
>Eat ice cream whilst 'curling' 2lb dumbbells, sometimes leaking ice cream on them and licking it as we lifted the weights towards our mouths
>pour sugar and cream into peoples protein shakes when they weren't looking

I gained 20lb in 5 months there. They don't care about your health

Another Anytimefag here. I fucking love it. Mine's almost exactly like yours except it's $35, we have three bathrooms with showers in them, there's three tanning booths if you're into that, and no money wasted on a smith machine. Plus, I can go when I get off work late at night and be alone.
Owner's a shitlord, too. When I signed up, she told me she put the cardio equipment against the front window so the runners can "people watch" and gestured at the Gamestop next door.
>>
>>39921134
it also depends on how serious you are. Local places oriented towards lifting would be great if not for the fact that (at least the ones I've seen) are fucking expensive.

LA Fitness is perfect for me since most of the people are girls who don't use the weights.
>>
>>39922041
The one I go to is 40$ a month. Has tons of squat racks and gets new shit pretty frequently. The owners are 10/10 bros.
>>
>>39922096
I live in South Bay LA and it's pretty much only chains here.

Used to live in New Mexico where 24-hour fitness was 56 a month (with a year contract) and the serious lifting gym was 80 a month.
>>
>>39920566
I enjoy the World Gym in my area.

Pros
>2/3 free weights to machines
>More than 2 squat racks

I've been going to 24HF since last year. It's great, has all the amenities you could ask for, plenty of space for weights. It's crowded as fuck during the day, but if you're a vampire like me, you can go in at midnight and have a serious workout with the rest of the crazies.

Most PF's turn them off or really only sound them towards douche bags like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLa64nVCXvc. Just don't act like a douche and you won't have any problems at the majority of PF's.

>No sweating allowed
Only in safe space ones. The one I used to work at, we used to push people.

>Free Pizza
>Free candy
That you got correct. Though, that it is their choice if they want to eat it or not. When I used to work there, I told every person: "are you sure you want to undo your workout with that?"

>No weights
You can easily make a dumb bell equivalent to any barbell exercise. The one I used to work at went up to 90lbs.

The worst """"Gym"""" is any gym other than homegym. Deal with it, faggots.

>no one to share shit with
>can do cardio in peace

My World Gym is OK for a bare bones gym. Only 2 squat racks, but I go around 11 am and I only have to wait like 1 out of 10 times or less. Has a deadlift platform that is not terrible. Plenty of benches. Everyone is chill. And I got this plan from 11 am to 3 pm which is cheap as fuck.

The worst part is that I'd say like 30% of people don't rerack (maybe not World Gym's fault but it's part of their culture whether they like it or not) and they don't have fractional weights (I just bought my own).
>>
>>39921367

>>39921367
I love anytime too. The only issue is that there's only one squat rack at most of the ones I go to, so if some SL5x5 sperg is doing their entire workout in it, you may have to wait awhile.

That said, I sometimes had the same problem at a much bigger gym.

Mine is $35 a month too.

I do kind of miss the amenities of the big gyms - pools, saunas, etc, - but I feel like I'm more efficient at AF because of its small size.

I also like the private bathrooms because I'm shy and don't like getting naked around strangers.

There's a lot of gyms in my Irish town. I go to one that works out to about €17 monthly and there's all the equipment I need plus yoga/pilates/spin etc if you're so inclined. The only thing it doesn't have is a pool but the trade-off is worth it. Also it's within ten minutes walking of my house

Military gyms. If you have a friend who is a dependant or are one, I suggest using them. I'm in DEP for the Navy and have access to 3 different near by bases who's gyms I can use. They have are MASSIVE, steam sauna, 4 of each machine, hammer strength, really nice barbells, plenty of racks, and benches. Like they all have 3-5 of each dumbbell, rack, cable machines, etc. And a million cardio equipment things. Racquet ball courts, basketball, track, football field, outdoor powerlifting pavillion, outdoor crossfit area. The works

Some very serious power weight lifters to one trainer a bodybuilder. Excellent staff. Music sometimes loud - I ignore. Power, smith squat rack and separate yoga, exercise, fitness room, which I do warm-ups and cool down. Great space
Peace.

Bro, no one wants to come to our cold ass state. I'm up in Duluth.

Anytime Fitness isn't bad. I used to go during strange hours, but now just end up going after work. Between my insurance discount, and my work discount, I end up getting paid to work out. It's pretty nice.

The anytime I go to has plenty of free-weights, 2 power racks, and enough cables and machines to keep myself occupied. Also a great area for stretching and kettle bells, etc. It's quite nice.

How are the girls? I've been home gymming for the past few years now. Am I missing out?
>>
>>39924905
In my book, going to the gym is about working out, and if need be, being a little social. I've been getting out of my shell a bit and talking to regulars there. There is one gal I particularly like that seems to be a regular, but we're all there to work out, not get hit on. It's a fun little driving factor to get another set in or that extra rep, though.
>>
>>39924958

I wish I could give you better advice, but I'm shit at it myself. I personally find that asking girls out at the gym is a faux pas. Let us all work out in peace unless there is an open invitation.

I wouldn't recommend joining just to meet girls. Use them as a tool to get your blood flowing at hit some new PRs.

I got to vent fitness near me, it used to be a gold's gym but they were bought out.

>Mix of treadmills and elliptical with a few Jacobs ladders thrown in when you first walk in

> Olympic size swimming poll and Jacuzzi

> 4 benches, 2 squat racks, large area in the middle for dead lifting, and a large host of other machines and free wrights for use.

> 3 smaller rooms dedicated to striking (fitness boxing), riding (a bunch of stationary bikes with a large tv that has a trail to follow on it), and a yoga like class.

>A small room used for mostly for football training.

Only 20 bucks/mo and best gym i've ever had

depending on the management, different planet fitness locations can vary from actually wanting to help you get healthy to "lets keep the fatties coming back" by using a lot of positive reinforcement for not doing very much, and then feeding them pizza afterward

How the fuck did you get them for $38 a month? I worked for the YMCA for a year (Free use of EVERYTHING btw so if you want free gym membership and a job, find a YMCA. they'll let you take longer lunchbreaks if you want to use them to work out or work with you if you want to take a class that meets during your shifts. I wish I had utilized it more but I was suicidal at the time i worked there and almost killed myself just being so damn sad. Depression is a bitch. I'm fine now though and considered looking for another job there since the pay can be pretty good (Got $10/hour in NY when minimum wage was $7.30 as a custodian which, as a girl, was easier than it sounds since the guys had to do most of the hard shit lol. I spent most of the time sitting in the locker room watching tv while I cleaned once my normal tasks were done, and this was for a facility on it's game. Custodian in a more lax facility and you can walk around all day carrying a spraybottle and a rag and pretending to work.

But normal membership there was around $60 unless you qualified for one of their 'scholarships' or student plans (Which are sometimes rigged fyi )

I have a YMCA membership, and the branch that I attend, in NJ, is more for old people and a day care. This means that the old folk have their classes in the morning, the kiddies are dropped off for preschool in the morning, and by 9AM-2pm, the gym workout area is fucking EMPTY. It's great. Today, January 6th, where most gyms are packed wall to wall for the new years rush... I had 3 other people in the entire gym workout area. While it's a smaller area because this branch of the Y is again more for daycare and classes, I still get access, uncontested, to everything I need. Squat rack, free weights, cycle machine, row machine etc... feeels good man

Some people don't have enough space. Either they live at home with too small of a bedroom and can't put it in a basement or attic or whatever or they live in an apartment which can't afford a lot of space for what you need, especially if you have roommates.

I'm in the latter catagory but recently got a larger place that can fit SOME equipment so I can at least do days when it's too dangerous to drive (Snowy mountains) at home even if I can't get my full workout in.

LA Fitnessfag here

I like it. It's not superior like Equinox or some rich people shit, but I only pay $25 a month, so fuck it (I started going when it was Bally's and that was the rate I locked in from the transfer.)

It's utilitarian, like I can do all the shit I need to and there are only a few small grievances like nobody putting weights back and a few locations are total shitholes. Also, yes, the hours suck. I'm in LA and I can't go to my nearest options (Miracle Mile or Downtown) and I have to go to the Hollywood location if I'm doing a late workout and even then, it's only open til Midnight and worse on the weekends. I was about to go right now and then I realized it's fucking Friday, they close at 10.

Whatever, for people that don't want to spend $85 a month and could actually benefit from visiting any location they want, it's bruddy gud. 3.5 out of 5.

I've always heard 24HF is great, but the one closest to me has been slowly dying for years. They have a lot of lighting problems that never get fixed, a lot of the equipment is run down and doesn't get fixed for months, shit like that. They're just waiting for it to die but it's one of the cheaper 24 hour gyms in our area.

>>39921367
I just started going here, pay $35 a month, and staffed hours are only like 7am-10pm weekdays so no one bothers me when I go in early mornings.

Cool I'm also a midnight goer here at Anytime in a quiet neighborhood. Sometimes people show up, sometimes they don't. Befriended one of the trainers and got my price balled down to $30 cad, so can't complain much. Good gym.
Going during the daytime once sort of motivated me to take my workouts more seriously, you have to be all tribal and courteous since like 2 other people always wait on the rack.

I've got an apartment complex gym that's free to use and open 24 hours (Pool in summer closes at 10 but you can sneak in about an hour after it closes since you can access it from either your apartment given key or the gym itsself). Free hot tub too

>Almost always empty
>Decent equipment for no extra cost
>Rent is equal to apartments that don't have these options available to them

Could be better but it's free and I'm a femanon just looking to lose weight and get healthy not really bulk up so I don't care that much about what it's missing, at least not at the stage I'm at right now.

Seriously if you know any friends who's apartment or living complexes have gyms ask them if you can tag along or use it on their behalf. Most apartments don't check who's coming in and out especially if you have a key (Which friend can lend you). Mine doesn't have employees in it at all unless maintenance needs to fix something.

Even if it's lacking it's better than nothing if youre a poorfag.
>>
>>39923778
I think PF is okay if you're motivated and are concentrating on weight loss (You can get by to a certain extent on what machines and weights they do have. I've been to larger ones that have free weights you just can't act like a jackass with them. Being loud is okay isince most places don't use the stupid lunk alarm unless someone's acting obnoxious and obviously looking for attention. but this can vary by location)
If you're not a retard you can ignore the pizza and candy (and even just taking one tootsie roll isn't going to kill anyone if they do it once a week rather than after every workout just don't be stupid) it's a decent gym for a really good price, but it's not ideal if you have other aspirations for your body.

The fuckin color scheme is awful though. Purple and yellow go together, sure, but why does absolutely everything need to be branded in those colors? They're not attractive shades either.

If they made the purple darker it'd be infinitely better.

In my experience:

Snap Fitness - Tiny, but I loved going at midnight. One squat rack and the worst commercial bench I've ever used.

YMCA - Overpriced for what you get. I went to a few locations, they both had one squat rack.

YWCA - This is basically SJW YMCA. It had one power rack and one squat rack. When I left, I had to use almost every single plate to squat.

local powerlifting gym - God tier. I never paid more than 40 bucks, I used good equipment, zero bullshit.

home gym - if you're not all that sociable in the gym, this is the best possible scenario. I can lift whenever I want, including multiple times a day if I'm busy and need to split it up.

In my experience commercial gyms have been all around varying levels of worse to passable. Might be my area but PF, LA and Gold's all had a problem with lacking equipment either outright not having it or just not enough of it for members to get their workouts done in a timely manner.

I signed up to a local gym after my Gold's membership ran out and I've never been happier. 5 squat racks, rope to climb, TONS of space so you're not squeezing past equipment and it's cheaper than Gold's was. Rich Piana also came to my gym's sister gym so that's cool too.

But yeah, plenty of racks, a prowler, tire to flip, loads of extra bars and space so you can just deadlift or go oly with their rubber plates anywhere, it's pretty great. Only problem is that there's guys that are either pros at the gym or going pro so seeing their barndoor backs makes me want to hop onto some test or some shit

No free weights and their curl bars only go to 60 lbs; but imo that's the only shitty thing about PF. Personally I'd say there's more than enough equipment there for a good workout. Bench, rows, squats, DB work, dips, pull-ups, leg press machine for calf-work, cable machines, etc.; you can break your ass there if you want to. For $10/mo and open 24/7 it's fine.

Pros
Only me and one other guy uses the weights.
The gym is only 4 floors away after work.
Cozy as fuck cause usually no one around, have the whole place to myself.

Cons
1 rack, 1 5kg non oly barbell.
Too little weights, I think i can only combine all the big ones up to 2pl. Good thing I'm still far from it.
He doesn't rerack anything ever and I have OCD about racking shit.

I've been checking out some gyms near work and home and nothing looks good so far. I dread the day I move beyond 2pl.

I go to planet fitness because I can't afford anything see right now. Maybe I'll try Anytime or something once I'm out of college and working full-time.

>>

What are the good girl/bad girl machines?
>>
My city gym is pretty nice, they have an indoor track, full set of weights, 2 squat racks, 10 or so treadmills, elliptical, and 5 stairsteppers, and cable weights

Downstairs they have 2 more squat racks, another set of dumbbells up to 110, 4 more benches

They have showers but it is free for myself being a city employee, $5 a month for any friend I refer and $20 a month for any city citizen
>>
Planet fitness is amazing!
Cheap 10 dollars
All the machines work well, and are purposely maintained
Their dumbells reach 75, which is fine with some creativity
If cutting, you can afford one monthly cheat meal of pizza
If bulking, you can eat your 10 dollar value membership in pizza
They don't force feed you, them offering food should be applauded not hated. One pizza night a month is fine
Plus there are plenty of qts.
>>
can somewhere verify if planet fitness really has a dress code? or is that a joke?
>>
>>39937751
I think non of that string singlet faggotry, basically nothing that shows off too much gains

I'm so torn. I can't afford anything other than PF. I'm not looking to get huge yet, justose body fat. Everyone says to not do SS or 5x5 with a Smith machine, but I have no other choice right now. Is it just because you won't get the results you would with a power rack, or will it hurt me? What am I supposed to do?
>>
>>39937751
>>39937742

No gym on the planet has a dress code. The staff doesn't care if you're in a stringer. Still, you should feel ashamed for walking around with protruding nipples while away from a beach
>>
>>39937775
>you won't get the results you would with a power rack, or will it hurt me?
both
>>
>>39937775
You can do most barbell exercises with dbs instead. With a goal of losing fat, you don't need to diddy. You can still get aesthetic
>>
can someone explain golds gym to me, from what ive heard it sounds like a roider hangout, my only other nearby option is planet fitness
>>
>>39937804
>You can do most barbell exercises with dbs instead
How?
>With a goal of losing fat, you don't need to diddy
What
>>
>>39937808
Golds is phenomenal. You'll always be hyped there, the environment feels like pre workout. But what's wrong with p.f? If you've been lifting for 2 years, go to golds. Seeing as you're asking a noob question, you've been lifting less than 3 months, so sick to p.f for now until you get to intermediate strength at 15 % bf
>>
>>39937793
I actually haven't been back in about 5 days because I fucked up my lower back doing squats on the Smith machine. It's just now starting to not hurt anymore. Planning on going tomorrow but just doing cardio
>>
>>39937784

Except for my gym. I go to Equinox, it's actually a great gym and has lots of free space. I was told one time that I had to change shirts was pretty pissed but whatever lol.

Only thing I would mention about Equinox is that some of the water fountains are ass. Haven't been going lately cause of the NY fags. Lots of hot bishs tho
>>
>>39937822
Whichever exercises state "barbell" YouTube the exercise with "dumbbell" instead

As for diddly, that's a synonym for dead lift.

We're all gonna make it brah
>>
>>39937751
PF employee here. Yes, theres an 'official' dress code but usually we ignore it unless someone complains or you are obviously an idiot (like people working out in boots).

Yes, the lunk alarm is real. The employees set it off though and we only do it to total asshats. We generally know an airraid siren is more disruptive than someone grunting.
>>
>>39937827
thank you
>>
>>39937842

Anyone else here workout at Snap fitness?

This.
Ive only been lifting for about 6 months and theres some shit I have to put up with, but PF is ok-ish for where I am at. Honestly some of the shitshows that come thru that place only encourage me to work hard to graduate this hell hole.

Does help being poor and only paying 10 a month tho
>>
>>39937836
my friend really fucked his hip up doing squats on the smith machine
>>
>>39937859
Used to. Mine closed down half a year ago. Was due though, most of the machines were broken most of the time and it seemed like I was the only one there most of the time. Found a 24 hour world gym thats good though.
>>
>>39937844
herd doin squats and deadlifts with dumbbells is real bad
>>
Why doesn't fit have an sqt thread?
>>
>>39937873
Once you get more confident, start smashing the rush hour Cardio bunnies. Pf has plenty of them
We're all gonna make it
>>
>>39937559
The one where you spread your legs and close them.
>>
>>39937890
Drop dead lifts from your routine.
Db squats are perfectly healthy, there are vids that can instruct you
Again you're goal is only to lose weight, don't stress over the exercises
>>
>>39937842
That ugly bitch belongs in there too.

equinox master race

also planet fitness isn't that bad. if you're not a fat idiot and have enough self control to walk past free pizza once a month you get tons of equipment and cardio machines and shit for ~$8/mo
>>
>>39937960
Implying once a month pizza cheat meal is bad
>>
>>39920636
I like this because he is probably some extremely successful doctor/lawyer/accountant etc etc and is literally only going because
>Sighhh the wife is worried about my healthhh
Interestingly enough he still does something even while eating the pizza because he loves his wife and doesn't want to lie
>>
>>39937922
i was not the guy you were talking to about losing fat but good advice, thanks bro since im in the same situation as him anyway lol
>>
How helpful are Planet Fitness staff? Do they actually know their shit?
>>
>>39937986
Our training is basically to give you a tour and sign you up for a membership. Some locations have people who know what they are doing but instruction and personal trainers are discouraged.
>>
>>39937842
>I was told one time that I had to change shirts
Why?
>>
Honestly I'd go, since im a late night workout guy, but the ones around me close at 10, not even 24 hrs da fuck

I go to the YMCA which closes at 11, fine by me, and has a power rack. It's just considerably more expensive
>>
>>39920566
My gym (independent place) is top tier. 4 squat racks, 1 power cage or whatever it's called, can't remember, 6 benches, dumbells go up to 180lbs etc. All their shit is clean, it's normally pretty empty feeling just because of how big it is and since I've been a member for so long the owner gave me a key so I can go in at any time.

Only thing they don't have is an oly platform. They even have a room filled with heavy bags and speed bags. 10/10 don't go to commercial gyms

On Mondays. At least at the one around here. You could easily get your $10 a month and than some if you just wanted pizza.

Other than that, outside of the dumbells it's all machines. The one here is not obnoxious as I've never seen them use the lunk alarm. They've also never bothered me about my grunting, growling, and pacing.
>>
>>39926932
Those exist. It's called CrossFit
>>
>>39921884
I'd be massively more pissed off by the alarm than the grunting. Anyway, their fault for going to PF where you're punished for training properly.
>>
>>39920566
I go to a hole in the wall private gym. Relatively cheap and it has everything i need.

It may close soon, though. I have no clue where i'll go if it does.
>>
>>39921367
Also Anytime Fag. Great people work at mine, and they always push me hard if they see me. Thank God that they don't stick around too much though, I get nervous when they cheer me on.

Seriously guys, I need reassurance about my soon to be home gym.

I live in rural central Italy and the only decent gyms with actual squat racks, Olympic barbells ecc, are crossfit or pseudo crossfit gyms.

Pros of those:
- the PT are somewhat competent;
- as I said they have decent equipment;
- fucking hot grills (even though I have a GF).

Cons:
- one is 20 min away from my workplace in the opposite direction of my commute, so I would have to drive at least 45 minutes back home;
- the other is on on my way home only 5 minutes from my workplace but here's the catch: 800 fucking euros for a yearly unlimited (as in go as many times per week as you like) subscription.

So... I have an unused mini apartment on the first floor of my house and so far I have:
- custom built power rack (as strong as a Rogue) for 350 €
- 6 square meter commercial grade floor protection from a local company which supplies to functional and pseudo crossfit gyms in all of central Italy for 200 €;
- sturdy flat bench from the same company for 100 €.

Am I doing this the right way?
I'm now missing you decent barbell and plates and I'm not sure where to order from.
I should mention I'm an almost ottermode 169 cm manlet at the moment and I will never deadlift more than 200 Kg, I just want to be a somewhat thicc manlet.
I went to shitty gyms on and off for a year and a half but since I've already invested 650 € I guess I'm now committed to this home gym.

I hope I won't regret it. Please keep telling me home gyms are the best.
>>
>>39940086
I popped 800 euros to dollars into google expecting the number to go down but it went up. Jesus christ what the actual fuck? I

But legit home gyms are the best, No wait, easier to motivate yourself because you paid good money for it and it's RIGHT THERE, no assholes to worry about or unwanted social interaction, can put a tv in there and just work out watching whatever you want to, or a good sound system if you want music.

Best decision of my life anon.
>>
>>39921367
Ive driven by the one in my city. read the reviews on several SM platforms and it seems to be that the gym is infested with nig nogs and eastern european gypsies. theres an amscott across the street where I cash my checks and looking in and seeing who goes in it's correct.
