My gf got me this foam roller for christmas, but I have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing with it. They included a little booklet with some "exercises" to do, but I'm wondering what results to expect.

Does this just help with DOMS? or will this actually improve my flexibility and ability to squat for example?

Basic foam roller tips for a noob pls.

I use it for spinal erectors, hip flexors, and glutes primarily. Found some real nice lat stretches that help with some occasional mid back pain. Just roll around on it till you find a sore spot then lay in that spot till it releases.

Do it every day, especially do it pre-workout.

Before squats, roll IT band, piriformis, hip flexors. Possibly also hamstrings/calves if tightness is present.

My first roller was really soft but this new high density one I got has some nice "teeth" to it. However it does lack some times so I will certainly look into the lacrosse ball. Been wanting something to roll out my feet anyhow. Thank you.
