People stare at me when I'm running and it's starting to get to me. In fact I held off on running for well over a year due to fear of being seen by people. And now it's coming back. I run at night, 8 pm, so that's it's low visibility. I don't think I can handle running in the morning. Can anyone sympathize? Wat do? Also, I'm doing couch to 5k, what does /fit/ think of it? And yeah, running general.
I actually finished C25k last week. Good programme to follow.
You have to learn to ignore people looking at you. I recommend doing it in the morning because its dark and less people are around

If your paranoia really bothers you that much then try sunglasses and a hat.

I'm extremely self-conscious and know that feel, but when people who aren't running look at me while I'm running I just try to think, "whatever, I'm running and they're not."
There was only one time while I was still a teenager when some 14-year old-looking girl actually gave me shit for it. She was walking with her friend or something and started making exaggerated arm movements at me like she was running and shouted "I like running too!" She might not have even been trying to be mean but I still think about it sometimes.
Fuck people, just focus on going faster.
No one fucks with me when I run, maybe because I am 200 lb big fuck. I'm only running because it is necessary for my job and I hate it

Yeah, although you could've played along with her joke instead of autisming out. For now I guess I'll just keep looking ahead and ignoring it. I doubt anyone'll say anything anyway. No one has so far, at least.

what job requires you to run?

People are looking at you because you are probably staring them down like an autist to see if they are looking at you. Don't do that.

Focus your eyes only on what's in front of you. Don't pay attention to what other people (unless they are in your way in which kind you look to see if they are moving/will move, or move yourself). If people make stupid sounds at you then wear earphones - some decent noise-isolation in-ear ear buds are good for this.
Choose a better time and place to run if you can. When less people are about or where less people are.
