Why has construction not been posted? Aside from breathing in silica and asbestos all day it's a pretty fit job. We are on our feet all day and lift hundreds of pounds constantly. There's a career path, it's just not great. The starting pay is better than a lot of young adults get, but it doesn't scale well with time and effort put into it. Lower enlisted are forever treated like special needs children, upper enlisted babysit those children who prove every day they need it. Officers outside of a combat MOS are just standard corporate office workers. It's great for a kid, nobody has more money than a soldier living in the barracks except a soldier fresh off deployment. I work in private equity, where I basically do nothing 35 hours a week and do some accounting and socializing with our partners for 5 hours per week. If nobody is at the office I usually just leave, and if I know the others are traveling or are sick, I don't even show up. We have 2 partners and 6 employees.
