Is this a meme or does it really work
i'm not sure if it is a meme but i used heavy grips to train to be able to tear phone books and thats what helped me the most. i could deadlift 500lbs but still not tear them using a mixed grip. i dont think they really helped me too much with anything but tearing up phone books. i own a 100 150 200 and 250 i cant completely the close the 250

If you want to tear phone books strenght won't help. There is a technique to it.

in my experience, yeah, that's all the use i've personally identified.

in my experience strength did help, since i couldnt do it until my hands were stronger. idk, maybe technique can be a quicker substitute i suppose. i'm over it since i did it i don't really care anymore

Grip work is highly dependent on specificity. If you want to be able to squeeze the shit out of things, go for it. If you want to improve your ability to hold onto a bar or get jacked forearms, there are better alternatives.

Thanks anon, makes sense

I've seen those on the ends of barbells before

They make your forearms bigger. They've helped me at least. I have the captains of crush and I do 3x8 and then hold for for a minute after each set.

Theres like 4 muscles involved in grip. Theres a grip training subreddit that has a beginner grip program
