This is why I prefer doing push-up progressions:

Knees -> Normal ->Single Bar dips-> weight vest progressive overload / one arm push-ups

These days, you can buy a 150 lb weight vest that loads in 3 lb blocks. A guy doing bar dips could reach 300 - 350 lbs of resistance using this tech. I see no reason to bench press when push-ups and bar dips are available.

Safety bars require a power rack. Power racks are to short to The Press™ in, so I have a squat rack.
