I've always had this problem, even at the beginning. Will 2x3 really help this?

Also, main question: is it normal to progress THIS slow in my press? My big 3 fly up so I'm no GDE. Hence my choice of the press emphasis program. At this rate I stand to gain only 9kg to my.press in the next half year and am starting to feel like I'm wasting my time.

Yeah, press is just a difficult lift to advance.

2x3 will help for sure. The hardest part of the press is the bottom, doing less reps means you're spending less time at the hardest part.

If 7x5 isn't enough, you can do 6x5 at the start of the workout, and then after the squat or deadlift, you go back to the press and do 3x3 (or push presses).

The press is long test of resilience.

A lot of this stuff depends on why your press isn't moving, but I've had good results from z presses and incline bench. I was also doing a fair bit of board work at the time, so who knows if that had anything to do with it.

Am i right in assuming that, if you do all 3 of the major lifts with perfect form, deadlift is actually the safest one of the 3?

I keep hearing people mention about how they won't do deadlifts because they're afraid of injuries. But it seems like there's a much bigger risk you can snap some shit up while squatting or benching with perfect form than deadlifting with perfect form. Like, you keep seeing videos of people snapping their knees while squatting or tearing their pecs while benching, but i haven't really encountered any vid of people having an "instant" injury like that while deadlifting.

But how do you notice when you're starting to accumulate damage so you can start backing off and rest in time? Because i can imagine it can be hard to feel when the damage has just started appearing.

My deadlift is improving pretty good and i don't have any pain in my lower back or anything, but the fact that it's improving so much also makes me scared i will push my body too much without knowing it and causing some kind of injury.

The trick just becomes knowing exactly how far you can push into them before things really go to hell. But that's not really an issue unless you're at a fairly high level. The lesser of us don't need to go that far to keep improving.

This is blueshoe's mother, Jacob asked me to post here for him.

He's currently in the hospital right now with a very severe injury from a Deadlift accident. He can't feel his legs and can barely move them. They think it's a severe disc herniation or possibly a severed nerve.

I had it from January until October. I took 1.5 months off deadlifting and squatting, in that time I did a lot of reverse hypers, I did dr Stuart mcgills big 3 every day (cat camel, curl ups, side bridges) and I did some planks but I wouldn't do them every day desu

Eventually I started deadlifting again. I could only do 100kg at RPE100000
And since then I've done a lot of deadlifts, snatch grip deadlifts and back extensions and now I experience no back pain what so ever,in any way.

Before I would have pain lifting my legs, sitting in chairs, laying down and lifting my leg.

Was so bad at one point I couldn't bend enough to take off my socks.
Pain has only been gone completely for almost 2 months

Deads actually removed a lot of my pain.

Took about another month to be fully pain free, but here I am.

If my back ever feels funny I do snatch grip deadlifts and it goes away instantly.

Only you can know the answer to that. I'd say lift for like a decade first, achieve some long term goals natty then see where you want to go from there. If you roid too early you might end up having some regret about taking shortcuts and you can never go back and see what could have been. Also i think juicing once you approach natty limit is like shifting into high gear at the perfect moment.

Seems alright from giving a quick look at it.
It's kind of hard for me to visualise the %s and the weights used with lb, as I only know metric. So I can't give much feedback there.
I kinda want to see how the progression goes but I just have no idea how much those things are.

But it seems alright. Though only progressing once per week isn't as fast as SS. But can be used right after a couple of months on SS, if you want to go the fastest route.

not including the fact that most people don't have the time to commit 40 hours a week or whatever factory workers make in order to get somewhat strong. so instead of devoting your life to it, you can get similar results to brickies in about a year.

lastly, literally no one who has never lifted weights is going to even come close to powerlifting standards. you don't hit a 5plate squat or a 6plate deadlift without devoting years to them.

How the fuck do I fix my uneven bench press? It's because of my right shoulder being more internally rotated, so the descent becomes uneven, i.e. one side lowers before the other one.

Here's how my arms look if I get ready for the OHP. The chicken wing arm is the "healthy" one I guess and the other one is the internally rotated one. I don't have to force it into position as much as the healthy side.

Just daily stretching or what? I've done that for a while now but it doesn't seem to help.

ID is generally pretty grindy and you're gonna have to cycle down to 2x3 sooner or later when you can't get all 5 reps. That happened only 6 weeks in for me, and no amount of volume day variation really helped afterwards as I kept stalling.

Anecdotally, TM was a bad program for me despite eating correctly and resting well. You may not be a GDE though so keep running it until you can't make gains anymore.

I remember reading that most people would have to boost their VD bench up to 90%+ to keep making progress. Towards the end I was doing 92% of my 5rm on VD for bench. Squat stayed around 85% for the most part. It's recommended to add some extra sets on VD if your ID progression is stalling, but I'm too tired right now to look for how to do that explicitly in PP.

Just don't pussy out on VD since that is what really drives your PR's on ID. I wouldn't drop intensity if I were you if it is manageable.

This is correct. Also, for whatever its worth, for the purposes of powerlifting, I do five heavy singles (5x1 instead of 1x5) on Intensity day for squats and bench press, 3 heavy singles for deadlifts until later in the program where I just do one heavy deadlift for the last few weeks before a light week or two before a meet.

ID is grindy but I don't have much form breakdown, so it's fine I guess. I know eventually I'll stall but I still think I have like 5 weeks at least. Going to try the 2x3 eventually.

Now I definitely won't drop the volume day, I understand that's what is driving my gains for ID. It's not even that hard honestly I don't know what I got worried.

Yeah Rip recommends that in PP also. Once 1x5 becomes too hard he recommends cycling down to 2x3, and then to 5 singles.

The reason I didn't like it was because even after switching to the 2x3 scheme I started stalling across the board again a mere 2-3 weeks later and felt like I was getting absolutely nowhere. Lost all my motivation and hope in the program.

Literally every 1x5 or 2x3 set was RPE fucking 9001 starting only 2 weeks after I first started running TM.

Just make sure you keep adding weight to VD and try really fucking hard.

Right now its 355 x 5 on ID (what I did today), keep in mind I always squat high bar atg beltless, so I could probably do more with a belt/low bar. Oh and I'm 6'4 245 so I should be squatting way more. So if you're wondering why I'm not stalling, it's probably because I have more potential because of my weight, and I'm still weak relatively speaking.

The quote from PP is actually very useful, going to add it to my notes, I really like pause squats so I'll consider adding those down the road as back off sets. I find pauses are almost just as easy as regular reps, which is odd.
Also for bench I'm doing one of nuckols bench programs which is sheiko based also IIRC. Working wonders went from 265 to 305 (current entered max is 315), in like 4 months. Same man, bench volume = bench gains. No other way to increase my bench.
