Matching phenomenon is the theory that two people in a relationship SHOULD be around the same level of physical attractiveness. If you have a uggo 2/10 guy, he should usually be with a similar uggo 2/10 girl, give or take a point up or down.

When you see a 9/10 girl with a 3/10 guy, the guy is likely either super rich, packing a massive dick, super powerful at their profession, etc. etc. - something has to make up for the discrepancy in physical attractiveness.

HOWEVER, this is becoming more and more invalid when it comes to lower attractive women. It is very common that a girl like this can get an 8/10 guy easily. There are so many desperate guys right now because there are just not enough attractive women to go around. For every 8, 9/10 girl there is, there are hundreds of uggos and whales.

Its not an imbalance between men and women but women dont seem to give priority to relationships at all and if they do want one for a short period of time its easy for them to get it because of how dating is set up (register on tinder or go to a random bar and see for yourself how guys chase after every girl in sight)
