Anyone here ever make Greek Yogurtâ„¢ at home? Apparently it makes use of a chemical process. I was wondering if it was worth trying.
This is one of /fit/'s favorite foods and I w-wanna eat what y-y-you guys eat too but I'm afraid I might be at risk of getting my stomach fucked.

I mostly use it as a protein source at breakfast. Where I live, I can buy decent Greek yogurt for less than it costs to make it (in terms of protein content).

I am making yogurt at home, it's very easy. There is a recipe on New York Times for creamy homemade yogurt, that's what I follow and it turns out awesome. If you strain that yogurt you get greek yogurt but you can also eat it the way it is. (The liquid you strain out is just whey.) All you need is whole milk, big jars, thermometer and a bit of yogurt for starter culture.

Im actually reading a food science book now and finished the fermented dairy section about an hour ago.
Your own yoghurt is stupid easy, basically get some milk of choice, add a starter culture which basically consists of your favourite yoghurt, combine in a big ass sterile mason jar, keep it warm for a while then refridgerate, each batch should last for about 2 weeks.
Can you make it? Fuck yes you can, do some research and give it a shot broham, seems daunting but just jump in and try it. Chefsteps on youtube have a how to that makes use of a water bath that looks fucking amazing.
