Trappy can you recommend me a good squat shoes with even higher heel than 'normal' elevated heel (3/4 in).
I'm a 6ft6 towerbrah ex varsity football player who squats high bar in flats for years and cant seem to go past the 4 plate mark. I tried my uncle's custom made WL shoes from the 80s (blue suede with customized an inch and half wooden heel) and i hit 455 immediately and easily.

From what I gather, the Asics Matflex 4 is better than the 5. Reviews of many new (post-4) weren't really good, apparently.

I find it a bit weird that he says not to try and stay as upright as possible, and instead let the body incline.
Of course it's lowbar and the body will have some degree of inclination naturally, but some people (like fil) can squat very upright even when doing lowbar (proportions). So I think it's a benefit to try and stay upright regardless if you can or not, considering it also helps with keeping the torso from caving forwards.

The hip drive thing... I think it can be useful in order to teach some fundamentals to the beginner, but I don't think it's something you should worry much about when you're stronger.

The calls were pretty long as it was a referee in training or under assessment or something. It happens pretty frequently at local comps and it fucks me off.
That and I was just tired, it was late in the afternoon/early evening, I felt overly bloated from overfeeding, and just didn't feel great for benching in general/ other excuses.
I think my peak wasn't ideal for bench either I dropped volume too early which detrained me. This felt necessary however, as I had/have an inflamed AC joint and can't handle too much volume without undue pain.

I had benched 160kg with commands 1 week prior, so the strength is 100% there.
Just didn't have it on the day I guess.

Risto sports has two new shoes for Powerlifting, the Powerlifting Shoes and the Russian Boots with 1.3cm heels. These are the same models of their weightlifting shoes, but with lower heels intended for powerlifters.

These are currently the only shoes being produced with heels this low. Other than these, there are the Adidas PL series which have 1.5cm heels.

Still a high price, I don't have that amount of money to spend myself. But that is a very luxurious boot, with materials and quality that aren't made anywhere else nowadays.

The actual shoes, not the boots, have a competitive price against the big names of the market, and the advantage of being classically built with classic materials.

Also, they can customise almost anything you want if you ask them.

They do have a raw feeling to it, though. Some people do not like it, as it feels nothing like an adipowers or romaleos on your feet.

Tricep ext. with EZ bar on a slight decline bench is GOAT. Don't bring the bar down to your forehead, but just behind your head slightly.

Glutes, don't know of any real specific glute work. I think if you know how to use your glutes squats and Deadlifts can be enough.

Hamstrings, I'm a big fan of Romanian Deadlifts. They can work glutes ok too, and they're good extra work for the lower back.

IMO what you do for accesories doesn't really matter as long as it works the muscle properly, isn't an injury risk and you can actually make progress on it (I. E. putting plates on your back for pushups gets annoying real fast and it will limit progress)

If you're not competing you don't need to do the comp cycle, just do the skill test of the first week and restart.
