I've been skinny my entire life, and the effort for me is putting on weight/muscle. My friend is the opposite, who has always hovered above 200lbs but wants to slim down to something less offensive.
How should I help him get started? He's already curbed a lot of the sugar in his diet, stopped drinking soda, cut out all the fast food shit he ate. But exercise wise, should he begin with running?
Advice from former fat asses would help too.

422 lbs. to 235 lbs. in a year.
Exercise isn't necessary, but lifting is always the answer.
Calorie counting is the most important thing.

I recently came across this study from 1973 in which a 27 years old male has fasted for 382 days under the supervision of researchers from a Scotland University. This is the longest fast ever been recorded. This patient weighted in 456 pounds (~207 kg) and weighted out 180 pounds (~82 kg).Feb 21, 2014

You would have got there faster with fasting. Calorie counting is shit mate. This is what you get for listening to /fit nubs.

It was worth it. I maintained a lot of muscle mass.
