Hey all. I am looking for a bicycle to get some extra exercise with. I have looked at road bikes and mt bikes and decided that both are way more than I need and way out of my budget. I have settled on a "track" bike...and a cheap one at that. My literal only requirements are that it has to be a decent bike and wont fall apart, also BRAKES! definitely not going brakeless. My budget is 500 although I would definitely like it to be under that. Also no CL bikes sorry...literally everything in my area is going to be stolen and or rusted to shit.
Tommaso Imola.

Yeah I know it could have been posted there. I figured either or since this is fitness related.

buy a brand new fuji feather. Ride it fixed and not single speed, should come with at least one brake. Retails ~400
The board /n/ is all about bikes. Go to their Bike Buying General. Its a slow board so can be some time for a reply but they know their shit there. Personally, for a fixie I would go with a Hoy or Langster. Anything less than 500 is a bike shaped object.... the smith machine of bikes.

getting a fixie is a horrible way to get into biking if you have any sort of hills to ride around
you are asking for injury to your knees if you buy a fixie off the bat and will be unable to leg day for months

have generic bikes that work fine
faggy people will say these are trash bikes but they are not and anything above walmart shit is going to be a pretty good bike for fitness.
once you really get into it you start lusting after 'serious' bikes which start around $1500
