For weights, find a CAP 300 lb set on sale. It comes with a bar and 255 lbs of weights. I bought mine for $180 at Academy Sports and Outdoors. Even without the barbell, the weights are $0.70 a pound (which is pretty good for new).

You could probably get $0.50 a pound on Craigslist [saving $52.50], but I don't think it is worth the hassle.

You can get a basic squat rack for $100 on Amazon, but it will only hold 300 lbs and doesn't come with safeties.

A quality rack will cost at least $380 after including shipping and safety arms.

The middle of the road is the CAP racks that hold 500 lbs which are about $210 on Amazon:

Rep sells a quality bench for $150 which I really think is worth the money, but the bench should be your last purchase. Always check the weight limits for benches which include the weight of the user.

If you budget is tight, get a quality bar first and foremost. Buy some weights. Then, buy a rack. Finally, buy the bench.
