Back when I used to work as a coach, yes they did. Disagreements happened sometimes ofc, but that's part of it.
People were actually quite fond of me, in general, cause I always put in a lot of effort.

What if it was a 50kg young woman paid by the gym to coach those lifters? I've always recommended Sheiko. It wasn't usually recommended in the /routine general/ threads because those threads were mostly helping beginners who just wanted to look good or get a bit stronger (so not surprising most recommendations were SS/TM).
Sheiko is specific for those who are training for the sport of powerlifting.

i am doing justin's press emphasis variation from the ebooks. i've posted here a few time regarding it actually so apologies if its starting to piss anyone off.

my main concern with it is my slow as fuck progression. i'm not wholly sure why its happening. i actually modelled the routine a while back with your input (i am the guy who asked you why you stopped your routine generals). i can only seem to put 0.5kg per week on my press, which I have been doing, mostly successfully, for almost 5 months. i've not changed the rep schemes - since i began i have been doing 5x5 press on tuesday and 1x5 press on friday, with press accessories in there.

Volume is what drives progress.
The purpose of going 3x5 on volume day is in case your squats or deadlifts get too heavy, to the point where 3x5 is exhaustive enough.

The press, however, is pretty much always gonna be a relatively light lift. So no point in lowering the volume.

By increasing the volume, you can maybe accelerate the progression, or keep it rolling further.

As for doing 2x3, you can do both things if you want.

Texas Method is easily adapted specifically for powerlifting, and is better for the VAST majority of the middling lifters in this thread than some advanced program like the good Sheiko programs.

You can test your maxes after the #30, and start again from one of the spreadsheets.
The #30 is the prep2 from the intermediate large load. So after you test your maxes, you can start the intermediate large load from the start.

Bench and Squat are the ones that most people improve the most. Deadlift will also improve of course, but in general not as fast as the other two.

The 4 day program (Advanced) is better for your deadlift than the 3 day program (Intermediate), as it has 2x frequency and a lot more deadlift volume.

Some people customise the program to include more deadlift volume, variations, frequency, etc.
With the guys I used to coach, for example, we'd do RDLs or touch and go DLs instead of doing the goodmornings from the Squat days.

But as he says himself, the spreadsheets are guides, not rules. If you need to save time, or have limitations due to the gym equipment, or whatever, you can do the second bench section right after the first.

You can do one prep block from a Sheiko program and just test new maxes after the 4 weeks.
This won't work if you're a very advanced lifter, but for a more intermediate lifter it works fine.

Another option is Candito 6 Weeks, or Nuckol's 28 Programs.
