It was amazing. I've been to a lot of European cities but Florence was different to most. They haven't allowed capitalist development like most cities have. I could spend a whole day just sitting in the Cathedral Square. I've never been so in awe of a building as I have by the Cathedral there.

Serious answer, back then absolutely noone would have been this big but physical aestheticism and the Olympic games provided artists and sculptors with a frame that they could then exaggerate to realise the ideal/godlike physique. This is why many of these statues seem so dispropportionate today, because certain body parts were valued differently and contributed to the proportions you see here. Just look at the obliques.

Ancient romans studied human anatomy and jerked off to stoicism (the idea that humans should and could attain perfection, physical and otherwise) that when their artists rendered images great men they accentuated the fuck out of their musculature.
