Is having one of these around worth it?

Bump, would like to know as well

Can't hurt.
Depends how you wanna use them. I used to keep one on my computer desk to squeeze absent mindedly. But if you're actively working out you can find better means of working your forearms.
What ever you do don't get an adjustable one tho. Mine broke after 2 fucking weeks.

How best to improve my grip strength then? Would these help with that, as I watch shows or anime? Thinking it could be helpful. Not OP, but someone curious.

I have one, but I rock climb for forearm gains.

That's pretty much how I use 'em so I'd say go with that. As for grip strength, there's lots you can do. Chin ups, climbing, dumbbell curls, squeezing the bar when you lift and of course using these things. That's just off the top of my head too.

drill a hole through a dowel, stick some rope in it, tie it off and put a 10lb weight on the other end of the rope, hold your arms straight out and roll it up.
