I just beat my first plateau, stuck at 187 for 3 weeks, just weighed in at 183 this morning. Feels good.

Tips; don't get motivated, get disciplined.

When you don't feel like working out, put ur emotions to the side and do it.

Juicing with vegetables and fruits help you stay full for quite some time.

My suggestion is wait around 20-30 minutes after you've already ate to go grocery shopping.
A lot of that binge buying happens when the consumer is hungry or craving something, so go after you've ate and let the meal sit for a little while so you go feeling sated with no desire to eat more.

Was 250 back in June now down to 219 as of today.

Hit the gym 3 times a week and try to maintain a diet of 1800 cal each day.
I dont actively count calories on the weekend but make sure to not go nuts either.

I think I need to step my game up further either with more gym time or try to eat cleaner.

Tips:

eat a lot of egg whites and broccoli. Get hot sauce and chili powder and pepper and other shit to make it taste like something.

Snack: low cal yogurt.

working out to lose weight is a meme. You need to control your intake.

Egg whites, broccoli, and yogurt have a very low caloric density so you can fucking gorge yourself and still be at a caloric deficit.

Breakfast: bit of oats, protein shake (300 cal)

Lunch: 15 egg whites, 12 ounces broccoli (about 500 cal, and it's like 1.5 pounds of food)

Dinner: same (500 cal)

Snack: Half a pint of yogurt ( <200 cal)

Congratulations, you're eating about 1500 calories, a decent amount of protein, and fucking gorging yourself while on a caloric deficit>

I started running as long as I could every night, cut out soda and candy. First week or two were difficult, I ate a salad almost every day for lunch but kept wanting to buy junk food instead. But after those first two weeks I stopped thinking about it, and just continued that path, and as soon as I saw I had lost 5lbs, it was motivation to keep on going. And then running became easier as time progressed, which made it easier to continue to lose weight. Then I started doing more weight lifting.

I find its really helpful to simply not have it around. If its in the house I'll eat it but if I've got to go to the store or something I tend not to give in.

My best recommendation would be to leave all money or cards at home when you go to work, maybe keep a 20 in the car for an emergency.
Also try some meal prep so you've got food when you're hungry.
I drank diet soda for a while when I started losing weight, then coffee with sweetner, then just black coffee. Now I don't crave sweets as often.

Been hovering around ~209 for what feels like eternity.

I was ~240 and i weighed in today at 207. Been keeping up with the strength gains, feels like every other week I can use larger weights but the fat's not dropping.

How do I break this hump? I'm always trying to maintain a deficit and I'm cutting carbs now to the point where I lack energy. It took that to finally break 209 into 207 over the thanksgiving weekend but I don't know if I should sustain just a handful of fruit from breakfast to keep me going.

So fucking close and things just slowed down to a fucking crawl. Should I try a new routine?

I started at 336lbs at 6'5". I've only been at it for 2 months, but I'm down to 306. I'm taking it kind of easy and not counting calories (yet) or anything besides just eating less and moving more. I've been doing that Couch to 5k program to get me active, and I'm just 2 weeks away from finishing it. I can already run 2 miles without stopping or slowing down. It's awesome

My goal has pretty much been 10lbs every month, and I've been on track mostly. By December 4th I wanted to be at 305. Looks like I'll be reaching that goal early

Being as tall as I am and with the shoulders I have, I'm not sure what a good goal weight is for me. The BMI calculator said that ~175 would be good, but I can't help but feel like I would look like a skeleton with that weight. Any suggestions on what weight to shoot for?

Back when I was a teenager, I dropped from 325 to 220 in about a year, but it was an intense ramen noodle style starvation diet with daily cycling for an hour under the early afternoon sun.

That was done in little over a year, going into college I stopped But I tell you that to let you know that around 100 lbs lost in a year was possible for me but that was 6 years ago so i can't remember much else.

This time around I'm>>39543449 but I'm following a more half and half plan of cutting and building muscle, when you start lifting you have like a half year window where some nice and immediate changes are possible but you eventually plateu.

I think in the final stretch of your weight loss start your lifting and start being more technical and count your calories and protein intake. You have a nice window you may not want to miss.

This is why us fatties have it better than skellies.

I'm six feet but even at 190 I had a Chris-chan tier body, complete with saggy man-tits. During that month I didn't lift, I didn't run, I didn't even fucking jog I just walked a ton and ate way less and I lost twenty pounds in a little over a month. What I hope people can take away from this is that even low confidence low attention span losers like myself can do amazing things when they work around their limits, in my case by distracting myself from what I was doing.

Quite a few stretch marks but not that much for loose skin luckily. Only some around the belly.

Had a lot of fun doing it. Watching my face and body take shape and melt away on a daily basis was great.

11 weeks into a 12 week lifting program, lost 50 pounds and am now at 255.

Also 6'2 and 21 years old so I feel like I haven't completely lost my youth to obesity. I miraculously had decent fat distribution at my peak weight so I think my body may actually be able to rebound well enough without looking freakish.

And in case anyone asks I'm working out 6 days a week, doing cardio 4 days a week, working 4-5 days a week and currently eating 1200-1500 calories a day for the last 80+ days. Going well but I'm thinking I'm gonna need to up my intake a little bit because I think I'm losing weight too fast

Imo doing keto is too restrictive to use as a diet for the long term, if you want to enjoy your life more, I'd just roughly track calories and eat 90% clean, 10% whatever you like within your calorie goal

This is just my two cents, because you should do a diet that's sustainable indefinitely, so it should require less willpower to maintain, good thing is as long as you track your calories roughly, and don't go over your calorie goal, then it doesn't hinder results either

Nope, still haven't made it.

In fact, I think I've started drinking more pop.
At first, I was only drinking 2L a day, and now I'm up to 6L. If that wasn't enough, I've pretty much stopped eating conventional food. Since there have been a lot of halloween and christmas sales, candy has gone on really cheap, so I just sit down with a box while I play vidya.

In terms of activity, I don't do much. I get up about 10 times a day to pee, and that's about it.

It's getting a bit harder to move, and I've noticed that sometimes my heart is really racing. It stops me from sleeping at night, at least until I'm really tired. If I walk too far, I start into a cold sweat, and have a really hard time breathing. It feels like my entire chest is contracting, it's sort of weird.

Maybe next year, I guess.

I've lost weight before but I'm looking to reapproach weight loss this time, with more strength training involved.

Should I focus on legs? cardio alone feels like a pretty sizeable workout at my current weight. What weight should I begin to focus on my legs?

Most of my cardio has been walking on a high incline treadmill, the target is to keep my BPM somewhere between 145-165 for 40 minutes, I think I am going to extend this to a full hour however.

Most of my back/chest/shoulder/arm exercises are 4 sets of 12 reps, is this solid enough for a beginner?

Is there any immediate reward for ab exercises?

32yo 4 months on a 3/4 intermittent fasting, rowing 3 times per week, calisthenics with some dumbell stuff 3 times per week. I've gone from 340lbs to 292lbs right now.

Coming up on a year of my 'actually putting in effort to lose weight' aka diet/exercise. I started dec 26th last year at 267 down to 190 as of last weeks weigh in. Have to keep losing of course, but the progress is so much motivation for me. I'm pretty sure any advice I give has already been posted. What helped me (bare in my mind I'm really fucking mentally weak) was scaling down all my eating habits to ease into a better diet. I cut out all soda/iced tea and sugary drinks first, started using less and less cream/sugar in my coffee (now I just drink it black after so many months), making adjustments like using mustard over mayo for sandwiches. Just small things like that really make the difference. In the same vein as the coffe/soda thing, don't drink all your fucking calories.

140 down from 280, 5'11. My sweet tooth and general love of baked goods makes it hard to get enough protein in. Bit of loose skin on my stomach that only lifting will make look better, but I just can't indulge in proteins like I can carbs and fats. Just weak willed.

I started around the last week of April, was a little over 170 lbs with nearly 30% body fat.

Fast forward through rigorous training / sports, and I hit 135 lbs this month, about 14% body fat.

The last few weeks have been a major brick wall though. I cut little by little, eat healthy with somewhat high protein (0.8g per lb) but no matter what, the last of the flab won't come off.

I was 157 kilos (346) only fat, no muscle and 6ft. Im around 130 kilos now (286).
I just did strongman 5x5 and i am benching 120kg (260) and squating the same now, when i started i couldnt even do 1 push up, i was that bad.
For tips I recommend joining an american football team as an offensive lineman because it will help a lot being in a team and competing pushes you to improve all the time.
For cardio, join a swimming pool club or something, because running will fuck up your knees and its awesome to lose weight.

I wasn't that fat, at least not when I started putting serious effort into losing weight. I was about 155 (which is a lot for my height) and now I'm a stable 130. That happened over the course of... IDK, 12-15 months? It was harder because I was dealing with a thyroid issued that a) made me a little worried to even lose weight, because it took so much off me, and b) got me used to pigging out after a long time spent reigning in my appetite, so I had to get used to eating less all over again.

I'm not sure if you mean this literally or not. Like did your body become immune to the first law of thermodynamics? Calories in and calories out isn't working anymore because some blackhole in your body? With proper diet, you will ALWAYS lose weight, even if it doesn't seem like that always.

I've contemplated suicide everyday for like months now and I've still lost 5kg on my cut. Working out gives me hope that things will be better someday, because I'm striving for something that is good for me. You just need to keep trying and hope something good will come out of your efforts.

My short term goal is to be 230lbs by New Years, and my end goal is to be 155lbs of muscle

I haven't been to the gym in a few months though, as I was too busy wallowing in self pity and doubt (my bf of 3 years cheated on me in June, 2 weeks after my birthday, after he encouraged me to lose weight so we could have kids and settle down back in March, picked up smoking again right after due to the stress (hadn't smoked a cigarette in 3 years prior), then I lost my job back in September and was basically homeless until I got my job back at the end of last month) but I have plans to start hitting the gym again in the morning and have meals prepped for this week.
Should I just swim every day or every other day and add light weight lifting in between each day? I would really like to do both, but I would hate to be burned out on either..

Was over 270 and got down to 180 but I spiked back up to 200. It was so easy losing weight when I was obesemode because I would just exercise for an hour and still eat a shitload and I would lose weight. Counting calories isn't hard but it's hard for me to gauge how many calories I'm expending during exercise. I got a fitbit and I hope this fixes it.

Tips: don't bother with running if you feel pain in your joints, you'll just get a worse quality workout. replace it with incline walking or the elliptical machine

Can't really help you much, but I'd say take it easy so you don't burn yourself out like you were saying. Swimming is always a great choice as it's easy on the joints, but maybe it would be better to take it slow with just a couple days of swimming for now until you see how you feel after giving it a go.

Not quite there but on my way. I am T2 diabetic and sort of gave up hope when they put me on insulin. That shit makes you gain weight fast. I decided to drop all medication completely and do a keto/IF for the last 2 months. I don't let myself eat unless my sugar is below 100. I've gone from 235 to 215 (6'1") and my sugar is way more under control than it was on insulin. Glucose never goes above 120 now and I have energy to do stuff like work out.

No it's not. When doing intense cycling threshold workouts I do close to 180bpm for 45-60 min. 145 bpm is the kind of effort you can put out for 2-3 hours. Why do you think endurance athletes are lean as fuck? Hella cardio burns calories m8.

Start small and don't think about the end result or your goal.
Buy your own food. Figure out healthful food that you LIKE (this is crucial) to eat.
Start exercising more. Start as big or small as you want, but start. Again, do something you LIKE to do. If you don't like to lift, don't lift. Don't overdo it. Consistency is the key, not intensity. Try things, maybe join a boxing gym. It's intimidating but the folks will be really supportive you'll find. Cut out soda and shit. Drink water. Eat less fast food. Invite your friends to do other things. It doesn't have to be active, but take it away from food. It will eliminate much of the temptation.

It's imperative that you be nice to yourself. Figure out a system that will help you live a healthier life. Don't just focus on losing X pounds. If you don't like what you're doing, figure out an alternative that still supports your goal that also makes you feel happy. Reward yourself for following that system. I like a tall glass of chocolate milk after a workout.

Figure out how to make becoming healthier easier and more fun to you, and it'll be easier to stick to it.

How much weight did you drop? Did you strength train while doing so?

To avoid loose skin, proper protein intake to go with strength training and not so much of a deficit that you don't burn off more than like 5 pounds a week.
