Hey I have a question that you might know.

Are there any sites that still sell plain old caffeine powder ? (usa) It seems hard to find , what happened .

What do you guys use ?

Also qtddtot thread if that's something you do here

thanks

My boyfriend is a DYEL and has a health problem (something about the spleen?) that prevents him from feeling tired- until it's too late and he ends up puking everywhere because his body got exhausted.
It's a legit thing, we went hiking one day and he kept insisting he was fine until late at night when he started puking his brains out and we had to call an ambulance.
Would like him to join me on some activities but have no idea what to suggest that wouldn't hurt him.
Also, he doesn't want to start lifting as he has bone/tendon pains and he's afraid it will get worse.
Any ideas?

Lower weight and do more reps for some time. If you are not 100% sure that you have propper form, work on that. Figure out what your weak spot is, pecs, tris or delts? Do more work with hose.

The reason people hate it, is because of the restricted path of the bar. Do them with a barbell, and you will also be working your hips a lot for stabilization.

I started SL and as I progressed I started feeling tiny back pain in squats, so I decided to stop and work on my form. Until I get the hang of the squat and DL, I'd like to know if there's a good routine that's more than 5 reps on each set.

What would happen if I did 4x10 on my main lifts, would I still progress? (taking in account I'm eating fine, sleeping fine and doing progressive overload)

So in the sticky it says buying whey or casein protein doesn't matter. However, whenever I see a protein shake it's always whey. Goes for /fit/ as well, only whey protein powder is discussed. If it doesn't make a difference, why is every /fit/izen buying whey? Who's in the right here?

It doesn't matter that much. Whey is more common and usually cheaper
However it also has significantly higher leucine(an amino acid) content. This amino acid has been demonstrated as the most important one for muscle protein synthesis stimulation.

Recommended workout routine for a grill?
I've been lifting for 3 months but now I won't have a PT so I need to start doing everything by myself. Is there a difference between exercises for a grill or I can just do the same routines from the sticky?

Also what are the best macros for cutting while sparring muscle. I absolutely hate cardio but I need to lose a ton of weight so I need to lose fat while building at least a bit of muscle. Don't want to just cut to oblivion and look just like a flaccid blob.
Thanks.

What's the best way to improve your VO2max? Would doing beep tests a couple times a week help increase it, or are there better routines?
>>
>>39530287
2-4 weeks. i havent bought it in years but i paid like 50 cents per 250 mg capsule. i dosed 500 mg per day. how much weight you will lose depends on your ability to stick to a diet. it's REALLY fucking hard because you're basically short circuiting your mitrochondria so you blow glucose and glycogen like crazy. on 500 mg/day and a reasonable 500-750 cal/day deficit, you can hit 2-3 lbs/wk of fat loss. the people that claim 1 lb per day are playing with higher doses than id ever recommend.

fwiw i did 3 cycles of DNP, like 3 weeks long per cycle. i haven't seen an eye doctor but it MAY have damaged my eye sight. things aren't as in focus, and my night vision is shitty. of course my eyes were a little shitty before i ever did DNP... but DNP is documented to cause rapid onset of cataracts and loss of night vision.

needless to say, i dont use DNP anymore.

I'm 1 month into SL and I have osgood-schlatters in my left knee. I hadn't had pain in it for years, and it's supposed to go away after adolescence, but I'm 21 and it kind of hurts now that I've started lifting. I think my form is pretty close to correct on my lifts, so I don't know if it's my bad knee or actually bad form. It doesn't hurt during the lift either, just on the rest day after, like when walking down stairs I might feel a twinge of pain, occasionally a little bit in the other knee too. I got a knee brace for my bad knee and that helps some

Nice gains, pep.

Also, Ausfags, how do you all get your protein?
I've started drinking 2l of milk every day (which is already getting expensive) which is 64 right there, plus 4 eggs, which is another 30, but beyond that I have no clue. I need at least 150g's per day. I'm poorfag with little control over my meals, but I recently got a new job, which gives me some leeway.

But that routine looks fine. Do it and report back. It's basically just Phrak's GSLP with some changes to accessories anyway.
>>
>>39530622
Whey is cheaper. We're all poor. Hence we use whey.

The difference is pretty much negligible. Whey apparently gets released into your body faster, where casein is released slowly. Whether that's true, I have no clue.

But if you're getting protein, it's all good.

If your goals are strength or general, you can pretty much do the same routines as guys; it doesn't really matter.

That being said, I'm guessing you're lifting to look good. In that case, my pic related is designed for you by a trip from this board, who used it to train 3 (may be more by now) women with good results.

You may notice it looks similar to a normal lifting program, but with additional ass stuff; that's because that's basically what it is. You'll be qt if you follow it's advice.

As for cutting, just make sure you have enough protein to spare your muscles, and decent amounts of fat. Some people find lowering carbs works; I did that briefly and it worked pretty well.

Good luck anon.

Why do people rack and unrack the bar over their face anyway? Why not just release it onto the safety pins?
I guess initially unracking it from that position might be a less than ideal starting position, fair enough. But surely at the end of your set it's better to just release it onto the pins rather than trying to manoeuvre the bar over your face when you're all tired. It just seems like it's asking for trouble.
Am I wrong?
>>
How come your body can burn fat in order to keep your body functioning and to do cardio, but it can't burn fat in order to create muscle? ie, why can't you build muscle on a cut? Why do you need to get the necessary calories from food, rather than fat stores as with other functions?

> but it can't burn fat in order to create muscle
No protein and necessary amino acids in fat
>why can't you build muscle on a cut
On a caloric deficit your body is already working hard just to make ends meet, putting extra meat on requires more power and resources

>>
Two questions homies
A) what is the flavourless MyProtein whey like? It's cheaper and apparently has higher levels of protein/less sugar in. But if it tastes vile I'll give it a miss.

B) why shouldn't I do machine leg press instead of squats? It's easier for me with no back pain from the bar, and I've been doing it for a few months so I've it the technique spot on
>>
>>39529249
Nice gains, Pepe!
>>
>>39535638

1) you finish your final rep very close to the racking position
2) you're gonna have to rack the barbell every time you leave it on the safety pins anyway when you want to do another set
>>
>>39535831
A) It's fine, I mix mine with cocoa or milk, blend a banana so I can make it taste as I want. It's not too great with just powder + water though
>>
>>39535831

A) The only /fit/ approved whey protein is Optimum Nutrition (double rich chocolate flavor). 25g of protein in a 30g scoop.
B) Squats aren't just a meme. You're not just working your legs. You won't get abs from doing squats alone, but squats also work your core (if your core wasn't activated, you would topple over forward). Weighted barbell squats more closely resemble the actions you will be performing on a day-to-day basis.

The pain from the bar indicates that you probably aren't holding the bar correctly.

Please take my advice. Remember this post, commit it to your long-term memory

how do I increase my capacity to do volume without increasing time in the gym? I'm time poor, so can't really do more days and can only really commit 1.5 hours x 4 days a week (currently programming with the expectations of being there 1 hour x 4 days per week). Do I drop a lift for a time and commit part of my time to accessory work that hammers my weaknesses into shape?

As a skinny fat who has somehow exhausted all their noob gains (even though i cant even bench one pl8), is it better to:

1. Lift at maintenance and try to drop my bodyfat percentage, before trying to cleanly bulk and increase lifts.

2. Eat a bunch of food to try increase my lifts at the cost of myself looking even more shithouse, then try cut afterwards.

3. Kill myself.

Thanks

I do a very similar routine to pick related except every other day not 3x a week, so;

Squat
Dead
Squat

got question about squat form. everything important is perfect but my shouders ache like shit afterwards from my arms being behind barbell.. I'd imagine this is because they're not stretched?

finally did what I consider my first proper 3x5 of deadlifts and sqquats today - my squat is 40 deadlift is 35 kg. Is this impressive or typical or what? How many months till I can do 100 do you reckon?
>>
What are your guys' thoughts on Athlean x and his AX-1 program?
>>
>>39536492
Deadlifts are really fucking taxing for most people in terms of stress on the body. They will progress quicker than your squats most likely, you will run into issues with recovery potentially.

It will vary a bit per person, I can handle pretty high volume deadlift work and prefer it to squats but my gf who is a high level powerlifter can squat 4x a week fine but if she deadlifts more than once a week she will burn herself out quickly. She is squatting and deadlifting over 3pl8 so it is relevant amounts of weight.

I will also add I've seen much more dangerous deadlift form than I have squat form in the gym, if you are relatively new and doing AMRAP your deadlift could end up a mess and you could hurt your back. If your back was equally as rounded squatting you'd lose balance and drop the bar. Deadlift allows for hitching, lots of lowerback rounding and other stuff that you don't want while squats I find less forgiving in terms of form degradation.

I would personally put the squats of deadlifts first on each day though, they are the hardest lifts and so you would probably want to attack them fresh as you can. Fatigue is going to cause form to break down and you want to ingrain proper form with something that heavy, if you mess up an OHP you probably just dump the bar and that's it, if you fuck up squats or deadlifts you could hurt yourself more easily.

If you follow those reps and sets exactly I'd say follow it as is, deadlift is lower overall volume which is commonly done for newer lifters.

Afaik pre workout just gives you a boost before your workout so you can lift more for longer.

Coffee or an energy fills the same purpose in theory.

I wouldn't buy pre-workout because if you need it you can make it pretty easily and cheaply at home.

I chug a black coffee occasionally, but desu it's a placebo effect I think.

Post workout is (I think) a min-max thing. The best time to take a protein shake is immediately after you workout because your muscles are actively repairing and are more receptive to additional proteins.

That said, it could all be bro science I can't remember where I read it

Best way to do them if you really want to hit the abs:

Pick a plank variation which you can only hold for a certain amount of time (60-90 secs)

30-60 second rest

Repeat

Keep doing this until you can only hold the plank for 15 secs or less.

I've been lifting for around a month now, when I started I was incredibly weak and out shape. One thing that's really frustrating is that I've noticed around 20-30 minutes into my workouts I often start getting really dizzy/nauseous. Obviously the harder I'm working, the worse it is. Some days I can work through it and it gradually passed, other times I have to end my workout earlier than I'd like. I'm giving myself ample time between eating and working out. Is this something that will pass as I get into better shape ?
>>
What's a cheaper alternative to olive oil?
>>
>>39542747
You're out of shape, it's as simple as that. Eat better if you aren't and given time your body will adjust. Also if you're fat it just takes that much energy to move around so that will become exponentially easier as you lose weight.

I'm trying to up my calorie intake which is difficult for me, right now I'm probably only at around 2.5k on average
>>

To my knowledge the two are more-or-less comparable. You can get a decent thing of Olive Oil for 4-8 bucks depending on the size of the bottle.

If that amount is too expensive you may want to reconsider your priorities.
>>
>>39542940
>I usually lift pretty hard for around ideally an hour and a half

It's entirely possible your breathing is fucked up or you're working too fast/too hard. It sounds like your diet is going alright and as long as you've got a couple hundred calories in you prior to a workout you should be fine.
