There are very few even half serious physical competitions as easy to get into as powerlifting. Rugby, depending on where you are, is pretty cheap generally. Possibly soccer as well. Other than that, powerlifting is pretty much the cheapest.

There are intrinsic differences, dipshit. The primary of which is that powerlifting is almost entirely a pure strength competition. There is also some skill, but it's not hard for a non-retarded individual to learn. Strength is probably the single most trainable physical trait.

While most all other sports are either absurdly technical (golf), heavily dependent on power production/"explosiveness" (like American football or basketball) or both (ice hockey). You can't train the 30'' vertical leap you need to be an NFL candidate unless you were born with a 28'' vertical leap. You can't train being 6'8'' to be an NBA player.

You can pretty easily train your way to a 500 lbs squat given a some years and basic knowledge. And the bar for nationals is laughably low, partly to your point that there really isn't a deep sample size to draw from.

My dumb ass, that had been a competitive golfer since 12, is, after 5 years of general strength training around golf season in the name of hitting a golf ball farther, less than 100 lbs from the 1490 lbs total I believe I need to qualify for nationals at 230 lbs bodyweight.

As measured how? If correct, that would literally put you over two standard deviations above the mean. That you can do that while fat is even more impressive. Usually the fatter guys, even in the NFL, have slightly lower vertical leaps (upper 20s for some linemen as opposed to the upper 30s and lower 40s you can find in the fastest players).

You would be so naturally fast that it would take consistent, dedicated, incredibly laziness for you not be able to get a D1 scholarship for many sports.

Tiger Woods was most likely on steroids. He went from being Urkel (and still hitting it over 300 yards with clubs from goddamn 1996) to swole as fuck in a year or two. He never failed a test, not one that was made public anyway. And if he did, they would burn the fucking results and probably shoot any tester than knew of the failure.

Otherwise, most of the drug stuff is either stupid bullshit, or non-strength "performance enhancers." They have bans on certain "stimulants." Including cocaine and shit you find in some allergy medications. Dustin Johnson is known to have failed several tests for cocaine, though was never severely punished because there is no way cocaine could make you a BETTER golfer. Also, take a moment and think about how these retards want to test for allergy medication in a sport that is played balls deep in pollen. Fucking clowns.

The non-strength "performance enhancers" are nerve calming shit like "beta blockers" or whatever. To my knowledge, no one has failed a test for those, but they DO test for them. I am unaware of their exact testing procedures, like how they choose who to test.

Though I'm sure if, in an alternate universe where I was super bitching good at golf, I was on Tour, and they found out I could squat 550 lbs, they would be testing me every goddamn week.

That is not how you measure vertical leap. That is measuring how high you can jump PLUS how far you can pull your feet up at the top of the jump.

To measure vertical leap, they'll use a "vert-tech" thingy to ascertain your "standing reach," then you jump and hit some plastic flag things on the vert-tech a few times and that will show how high you can reach at the top of your jump.

You subtract the latter from the former and you have your vertical leap.

I did 170 lbs last week and it was maybe RPE 7-8ish, 175 lbs will be tomorrow. All paused too which sucks for sets of 10.

Triples day was 225 yesterday and they went pretty well. I just really need to fix my butt coming up soon. Regardless it's pretty solid progress for 10 weeks.

Is some of the easier sheikos (#29) a sustainable alternative? I've thought that it's a lot more advanced routine, but some anon in the previous bread recommended it right away.

Main concern of mine - won't I waste a lot of progress on it? I get that advanced training plans are meant for progressing slower, but as a beginner I don't want to lose any potential gainz.

I'll be eternally grateful for responses, thx <3
