Any suggestions on an affordable home gym? I would like to start working out a bit but dont want to go crazy on what I buy. Id like to just start out preferably with a system or set of a few things that can accomplish many tasks. Can you guys give me any ideas? Thanks!

Pullup bar, adjustable db's, bench, for bare minimum.
Ideally you want a squat rack and barbell too.
I'd also get a set of dip bars and gymnast rings.

Just get a barbell and some weights. You don't even need a rack if you want the bare minimum. You could do a weekly split such as this and be fine for a beginner desu:

Overhead press
Deadlift
Rest
Floor press
Lumberjack squat
Rest
Rest

Keep in mind I'm assuming you are just starting lifting and the weight would be light enough to bring to your shoulders. This is just an example but it is feasible to get a full routine in without a rack or bench. Just be creative.

the 4 most reliable and versatile things you need in a home gym setup are:
>a bench
>a bar
>a squat rack
>plates
you can buy some REAAAALLY expensive plates, but they are not worth it, weight is weight, and unless you drop them and shit, just stick to cheapa plates.

this setup is quite inexpensive (compared to other stuff), where i live i can buy all of the above with like 400lbs worth of plates for around 1k usd

you could even make a makeshift rack with some wooden boxes or wodden pillars, then a bar and weights would be adequate

OP here, thanks for the replies all! Much appreciated.

no problem, you will make it if you have the will

I wouldn't risk it personally. Those ghetto cement+wood beam racks aren't ideal. I was more-so showing OP he basically could get by with a bar and weights from Craigslist without the need for other things. When I was piss broke and couldn't afford a membership or even food, I had weights in my apartment and this routine was what I basically did for almost six months. Now that I can afford a membership, the only thing I feel is lacking in the routine are squats, which lumberjack squats are a poor replacement for. Even to this day my bench almost surpasses my squat at 275 for the former and 325 for the latter as floor pressing has a pretty good carryover for benching. Fml.
