I cannot disagree more.
This is one of the best tools out there.
It's like having a spotter who is always on time. It has really helped with my form and increasing my bench.

i remember barely being able to bench 165 for reps, putting one of these on and benching 225 for literally 10 reps at a fitness expo.

Currently trying to hit 315lbs by Jan 2017.
Blue is to assist in teaching proper form keeping elbows in place did not notice much of an assist.
I have not used the red.
I use the yellow/full boar slingshot and it provides a good assist. Also has tapered arms for a better fit. This has really helped my progress this year.

nice chilling. my prof is 56, benches 240 kg and is a world record holder. as i showed him this, he almost slapped my face.
