What does /fit/ think of fencing?
>not curling instead
missing the most alpha sport there, mate
I tried it once thinking it would be kinda like the epic sword fights in pirates of the carabbean or something
instead it was just wearing a really uncomfy helmet while trying to take a step forward faster than the other guy, repeated over and over

>most alpha
Who cares? I want to know whether it's worth it from a fitness perspective, or I'd be better off with some other martial sport.

Try that hand and a half sword. Feels more like swords and not who can poke the other guy.

I trained epee for some years, it puts very strong pressure on your knees and leads to asymmetrical development of the legs (from fitness side). Otherwise it's a really cool and rewarding sport.
even more gay than doing bicep curls

it's basically boxing with swords
why not like...just box, u kno?

True enough - but then again I've just started liftinng, been in a fight only twice in my life and I heard most boxing gyms are pretty fast in throwing you out if you can't hold your own in the ring right from the start.

Nah man, box gyms are chill unless you want to go pro at some point. If you like swords I recomend you look into HEMA if you like technique and HMB if you are into hardcore violence. That shit is brutal.
it's something dorks do.
honestly fencing is such a weeb sport because weebs picked it up
but back then in france, being a good fencer was a status symbol
if you do fencing, make it fucking cool again.

also, you can get a few boxing lessons that work on your form, breathing, etc. the gyms usually have select days for sparring, so you can avoid, or come to watch.
