avocados go bad pretty quick and if your friend didn't steal them from the restaurant (that would be weird) then they are probably already going bad. unless you eat them all tonight (don't do that) then your only option is to mash them into guac.
protip: citrus prevents oxidation, which is what causes fruits to turn brown, use lemon/lime juice in the guac and on the surface layer when you put it in the fridge so it stays green

Yep, they oxidise fast as fuck and turn to brown mush. They won't last much longer than a day once exposed to air and removing the core just increases the amount of surface area exposed. I have heard you can coat them in oil or lemon juice (I forget which, either might work though) and wrap them in cling film to minimise exposure to oxygen to make them last a bit longer. Might buy an extra day or something. Probably best to just eat them and turn the rest into guacamole though. Even then it might go bad before you finish it all, 12 avocados is a lot, but fuck it you got them for free.
