You can't really develop the classics on a semi-linear periodization model like that. The 'Texas Method' for squats was developed by Glenn Pendlay for his weightlifters, so if you're just trying to push the squat up then following the normal template should work fine for you (as long as your recovery is on point). Keep in mind though that a bigger squat doesn't necessarily lead to a bigger total.

I've written this before but: I have the Rogue Olympic WL bearing bar. It's a great bar, I think. The only issue I have with it is that it tends to collect rust at the center knurl, so I am cleaning and oiling it more often than I would like. However, I live in the PNW and lift in an uninsulated garage. I imagine if my lifting environment were less damp, humid and more contained I would not be having the same problem. Beyond that, everything's great; spin's great and the knurling is just aggressive enough to make your grip feel secure without ripping your hands to pieces.

I think the Rogue bar is one of the best values available to American consumers right now. American Barbell Company is supposed to be putting out a pretty good product at a comparable price, but lifted with one of their cheaper bars this past week and wasn't impressed. However, this bar had been grist in the mill of a large university gym, and it was an earlier model, so that needs to be taken into consideration. I think you should look into both companies and decide for yourself.

That was what stuck out to me about the bar I used. It had virtually no spin whatsoever. I just chalked it up to abuse and neglect, but it sounds like it's a normal problem. Too bad.

I have the zinc-coated model. I think the extre hundred for chroming is a waste of money for a bar I use in my garage.

Like I said, the knurling is almost perfectly moderate. I've found I've wanted more grip from other bars I've used, so it's nice to feel here. The knurling on Eleikos are supposed to be almost overbearing, but I've never used one so I can't speak to that.

I haven't used an Again Faster bar, either, but from what I've read and heard they are crazily inconsistent in quality. Wouldn't risk it.

I wonder if the bad things you've heard about Rogue bars have been in reference to their cheaper bushing models. There's really no significant mark against their WL bar. I've had mine for over a year, lifting with it 4-5 days a week, and it is exactly the same as the first day I used it.

there's very few online coach that actually gives a shit about you and will teach you proper progression through the internet. most of them would just give you a program that doesnt make sense for you and charge you huge amounts of money
