Take an initial dose of 50,000 UI and then supplement daily with 5000 UI.

50,000 is the amount in the pill a doctor will give you if you have a measured deficiency so it is safe. The reason for the high dosage is it takes your body a long time to take in all the vitamin D and get your levels up to normal again.

When you take the 50,000 dose you will notice a difference within hours. Your mood will go up and you'll feel more positive. I used to suffer a lot from winter depression now I just do that every year and I'm completely fine.

Same thing OP. I'm worried since 5000 IU is already too high and it might get saved in your liver and give you an overdose after like 3+ months. What's the best course of action?

I wouldn't listen to this guy without a valid source.

i've been taking 5000IU a day for 4 years with no problems but maybe i'm about to have a yuge overdose

>Very high levels of 25(OH)D can develop if you:

>take more than 10,000 IU/day (but not equal to) everyday for 3 months or more. However, vitamin D toxicity is more likely to develop if you take 40,000 IU/day everyday for 3 months or more.
>take more than 300,000 IU in a 24 hour period.

you better ignore this retard.

1000 UI per day is usually sufficient. Mood swings during winter are not directly caused by low levels of Vit D.

This sounds like someone trying to troll you into an overdose desu OP.

I take 5000IU daily. I'm fairly sure I've seen supps that have 10000IU, but maybe I'm imagining it. 50k seems like a shit load to me.

Retard here. I knew I should of probably used a citation for this as you faggots are too incapable of using google but here it is:

http://www.medicinenet.com/vitamin_d_deficiency/page9.htm

Here is the reference:

>We suggest that all adults who are vitamin D deficient be treated with 50,000 IU of vitamin D3 once a week for eight weeks or its equivalent of 6,000 IU of vitamin D3 daily to achieve a blood level of 25(OH)D above 30 ng/ml, followed by maintenance therapy of 1,500-2,000 IU/day.

I take 50microgram of vitamin-d every single day for all the winter months, which is almost 6 months a year where I live. BY ORDER OF MY DOCTOR

Yes, that is 1000% of daily "recommended" dose every single day - during the summer months I take half.

And again I was told to do this by my doctor with 20+years of experience

Soooo many faggots in this thread have no idea how much vitamin-d you have to take to actually overdose - ESPECIALLY IF YOUR DEPOSITS ARE LOW and you live in a country where the sun only shines 4-6hours a day during winter

>>We suggest that all adults who are vitamin D deficient
>>We suggest that all adults who are
OP isnt. Period.

You're saying someone needs chemo when they have a sunburn, massive overkill.
>>
>>39466932
Vitamin D does not treat seasonal depression. You are confusing things here.

Seasonal depression is treated with artificial sunlight. Sunlight enhances mood and prevents seasonal depression specifically by hitting the lower half of the retina.

Sunlight ALSO leads to vitamin D production when it strikes the skin but that has nothing whatsoever to do with its mood-enhancing effect when it strikes the lower-half of the retina.

Which Vit D supplement can you guys recommend me?

To me that is saying take 50,000IU over the course of a week for eight weeks. Not one giant dose of 50,000 in one go but say 7 smaller doses, maybe around 7000IU per day?

Which if OP is doing 5000IU daily anyway is pretty much where he's at.

In other words, your advice to take a massive single dose of 50,000IU is retarded.

exogenous D3 doesn't do what sulfated D3 from UV sunlight exposure on skin does and so it is therefore of little value and could become harmful.
