What exactly causes the alpha beta dichotomy? The more I read the shit posted here the more I realize I'm a massive beta. I find myself hunching my posture in the presence of other people constantly as if it's some sort of reflex (I'm 6'1 and this happens all the time with shorter people). Also when people I don't know make eye contact I immediately turn down or away; I have no idea why.

little bit of nurture, little bit of nature
and a whole lot of conditioning over the years reinforcing that you are a low value man to the point where it is a part of your deep, unconscious core beliefs about yourself
Autism.

>alpha beta dichotomy?
It doesn't exist. Stop trying to put everything in a neat box.

It's not about what objectively exists.
The alpha/beta dichotomy serves a purpose, like the idea of heaven/hell. Alpha gives you something to strive towards while beta is what you want to distance yourself from.

I think this sums it up pretty well. I come from a large family. Two of my brothers are "naturally alpha," they have been that way ever since kids. They are aggressive, strong-willed and stubborn, just like our father is. Where as one of my brothers has always been like our mother, cries easily, emphatic, kind and nice. Funnily he is also the best looking of the bunch by far, but despite being raised in a same environment and same parents, he is shy and just lacks the kind of confidence which the younger ones have always had.
I don't think that you should force to act yourself in a way that is not natural for you. Some people are alpha, douchey and Chad like by nature, but even if you are not, it's completely fine and you should must master the following: respecting yourself.
