I judge this based off pics of before-after pics ive seen online and lifting girls ive talked to

I think that you are somewhat correct. For me, losing weight was about mindset. I don't know if it's genetic but for me it was about thinking big but starting small, keep to your diet even if you fail and have a cheatmeal/cheatday (never go a full day without eating because you cheated yesterday), and using past experiences as ammunition for keeping yourself from binging.
