Is eating more than 0.5 g of protein per lbs a meme?

Memes aside I've done just fine with a gram per lb. Anything below and I can tell my composition changes.
I underestimate how much I'm getting though(I don't count protein in veggiess/nuts/starches) so in reality I'm probably getting closer to 1.25 grams/lb.
The research all suggests 0.7g/lbs.
The 1g/lbs is a misunderstanding. Its supposed to be 1g per pound of lean mass

I generally do 1g per lb as well, but it's more for satiety than necessity.

I believe that assumes quality protein sources, and that you know your exact lean body mass.
much easier to just eat 1g per lb of bodyweight.

It doesn't say anything about the protein sources. Really there is little difference between getting 0.5g/lbs and 0.7g/lbs in results as the benefit tapers off. But after 0.7lbs there is no increase. I'm actually sad enough to read a few papers on this.

Fair enough. I'll just stick with the 1g per lb for convenience/satiety, though
